Some advice about life

OK here's my situation.
I'm nearing the end of my college (computer science). But,
recently I've been given a good job opportunity in the
field... specifically I would be a network administrator.

The problem is that if I take the job, I may not be able to
finish school.

What to do?

I went through the same thing. I hate giving this sort of
advice, but I suppose if you're more than half way through
university, you should definitely stick it out.

I won't tell you what I did, though ...

Here is what I say;

The paper might be worth a lot more to you than a carreer
that could end early.

I'm close, but I've been in college for a long time, and the
move would be lateral since I already work at the company.

I will finish school, its just a question of when and how
long.

take the job, you can always go back and finish school, you
will learn far more being in the real world anyway. Is this
the kind of job you would want once FINISHING school? if so
definitely take it. If you will get a higher paying job by
finishing your degree now finish your degree, but if its a
good job take it.

Go with the education...jobs will be easy to get once you've
got the quals...

I left ed at 16 and really regret it now...got tons of
experience as a programmer but unless it's coupled with a
decent degree then employers can sometimes be difficult...

Gonna be going to uni myself soon (FINALLY); just part-time
but I'm well looking forward to it...:)..

Firstly, be thankful that you have options. A lot of people
out there don't have that luxury :)

It is impossible, when in a situation like this, to know
which option is the best to take. All you can do is go with
gut instinct. You'll never know for sure how things would
have worked out if you'd gone the other way. You have to
make a decision and live with it.

My advice would be that you should finish what you have
started. Ultimately it will be the more satisfying route to
take, and also I think there is more chance of you
regretting taking the job - it is a bigger gamble. If you
explain to them that you need to finish education, they may
create an opportunity for you when you are ready.

I finished a degree last year. I really enjoyed it and it
has opened up lots of opportunities to me. Here in England
it costs a lot to go through university now, and I have
ended up over £9000 in debt as a result of student loans.
I don't regret it though, it's been worth it.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck :)

take the job.

Pieces of paper are nothing compared to experience. You can
always make it seem to people that you were "head-hunted"
before your peers which looks very sassy !!

On the other hand, a responsible employer wouldn't pressure
you and would value you getting your Qualification and leave
the door open for you...

thing is jobs aren't secure enough these days to maybe drop
your education for one
