I think BoC pales in comparison with other top-notch artists
such as AFX, Squarepusher, and µ-ziq, but then again, so
does everything.

Music Has the Right to Children is a fucking fantastic
album...one of my favorites, Geogaddi didn't really do it
for me though

Hate them?
no, i just don't find their music as mindblowing and
exciting as most people here do.
They are good but not THAT good.

only got geogaddi, i like it but i think it's a bit
overrated... nice, but a bit too monochrome — carries only
one kind of feeling... i think it's an acquired taste though

MY POINT IS....MY FRIEND HATES THEM.......Im trying to help
him....HE tells me he hate them with a PASSION but he cant
say ONE weak thing about them....

HE tells me "I dont know what it is but they are just plain
WACK, boring cunts with no talent".

I mean comeon, where the haters at...

I like them but dislike things about them:
01) Lots of too short songs
02) Some stuff is just flat-out not impressive.

i found their last album so claustrophobic as to make me
feel ill, there were some good bits but the melodies were
too of key and it ws all rather bland also trying far too
much on the mystical tip - beautiful place in the country ws
brilliant tho and this was a big dissapointment

addi b had the best quote about BoC:

"I think Boards of Canada is like ambient music for
transvestites.....not real men!"

That said, I don't hate BoC but I don't spooge all over
their records either.

I'm not a big fan because:

1. It's not very interesting.
2. They're still producing tracks that sound like their
earliest stuff. No progression.
3. I really hate that ambient meets hip hop sound. I'd
love hip hop and I love ambient but the two together don't
work together.

They're okay, that's it. Just okay. Nothing to get
excited about.

it's anything like astrorobotanical just for the simple
reason how much you all hype these two i'm in for a serious

i really enjoy them. their music isn't mindblowing,
incredibly original, creative or provocative, just pleasant
to listen to. i must admit that i enjoy several other
electronica artists more than boc, but hell, boc is great
too. in a beautiful place is a modern masterpiece.

offline Archrival on 2002-05-10 20:21 [#00214390]

"I don't know about the rest of you guys but listening to
BOC has really changed my life. It really changed my opinion
on certain aspects of life , like I sometimes don't want to
live a technological city-life anymore. Ever since "in a
beautiful place out in the country" I really want to live in
a beautiful place out in the country. It feels strange but I
think that they really are "brainwashing" us to change our
views on the world and start living a more simple rural
lifestyle.
I'd also like to have bonfire gatherings in the woods but
the problem is : I don't know anyone who really loves BOC as
much to enjoy it in that context. Most of my friends and
relatives like to go out to parties and such where they can
drink their asses of and dance all night long.I mean I like
that too sometimes but it gets very boring.
It isn't intellectually challenging anymore , I'd much more
like to gather in the woods and SMOKE our asses of and take
a trip into the marvellous world of BOC.
(I really wonder if Marcus and Mike enjoy smoking too , if
you know what I mean)
So big up to Markus and Mike for showing me the trail down
the rabbit hole and showing me that there is another way to
live your live than being cramped up in this hectic consumer
live style while we go on destroying the globe to fill our
every superficial shallow needs !
(by the way I'm not turning into a hippie or a treehugger)"

This is not my words.

:=)

BOC can change your life.

I grew up in the country and BoC doesn't evoke any of those
thoughts in me. Their sounds is reminiscent of old NFB
(National Film Board Canada) docs. Their music reminds me
of sitting in class watching some educational film or
something.

To each his/her own I guess.
