SOAD is simply fast watlzes w/ qiuck stops and lyrics that mean nothing besides the first line that is always repeated in the chorus...

ahhhh the new Entombed album kicks as much ass as their Left Hand Path, a Wolverine Blues etc.......you should definitely check it out.....and go buy Dimmu Borgir's new album and DVD some good shit

it's funny you picked "prison song" as an example of a SOAD song about nothing. i suggest you listen to (or READ) the lyrics, it's a pretty serious song about a very important issue. anyway, 1/2 of their lyrics are intentionally humorous, the other half are political or cultural criticisms. musically they're one of the best mainstream acts right now. if you don't hear any middle eastern influences in some of their songs you're.... deaf. and that's not the only out of the ordinary element to their music. anyway, people hear what they want to hear. on the topic of what *i* want to hear:
