the sound that starts exactly at 1:00 into gantz graf is the

that sound is kinda cool.

but, no offence, it's just a standard delay effect....start
out with a really long delay, turn the feedback way up, then
crank the delay back to being really short until it starts
moving up into high frequencies. well, that's what it's
based on anyway.

have you heard any of LP5? they do this a lot on
there if I'm not mistaken, to especially nice effect in the
transition between the 2 parts of "Vose In."

if you want to try this on your own, just use a VST delay
plugin like the Maxim VST plugin(it's free.) if you don't have
a program that supports VST, try Audiomulch.

i have lp5, i've noticed they use delay alot in their live

delay is so great. it's an instrument in its own right. i'm
a bit obsessed with it myself, though I haven't yet done
anything quite as interesting with it as Autechre.

I've got this theory : all you really need to make
electronic music is an FM synth, a sampler, and some effects
(well, and a sequencer and mixer helps, too :d ) .
they don't even have to be high quality ones. when you break
down most of the recent Autechre, that's all it really is -
FM synthesis with really fuct vocal samples and lots of
strange effects.
so I've had a TX81Z for a year and a half now. I've been
really uncreative with it since I got to college, but the
past few days I've been exploring it a bit more, so when
(...if??) my sampler finally comes in the mail I'll be set
for at least the FM part of the equation.

oh and obscure samples are very cool. my brother sampled a
stapler for one of his songs - it sounded absolutely wicked,
very sharp and clean :)
I'm into water samples myself, splooshing water, water in
cups, ice cubes clinking against glass, etc.

there was this one I called "penis brain" - I was palm
muting a guitar very softly and then I ran it through some
sort of granular VST thing. I changed the name to "rubber
noodle program" because somehow, that's exactly what it
sounded like.
I've made quite a few other terrible samples, but most of
those were just my vocals being distorted.
guitars and human [male] voice often sound terrible to my
ears. everything else tends to sound pretty good. oh wait,
most piano sounds are gross too.

I recorded myself while drinking coffe hehe damn the sound
got so clear you could almost hear it floating dowmn my
throat.
Fuck I love to record all types of shit, My little brother I

my brother's got this song called Bkrazi...
he sampled himself playing alto saxaphone in front of our
dog. the dog was going absolutely nuts. I actually didn't
find it obnoxious though, it rather went over top of the
song's minimalism quite well.
