right, we all know warp released the promos this spring
(that's what labels do) and we know they're the ones who
delayed it (that's what labels do). if the video was
finished in november, and the music recorded during the
confield session(s), and the "re-edit" of SBV finished for
the magic bus tour, then *we* don't know why it's been
delayed. my guess is they're still creating things for the
dvd, and when warp sent the promo discs out they thought ae
were further along on the dvd than they really were or are.
ae fucked themselves sales-wise (if the ep is going to be
sold separately) by not communicating with their label.

as for warp being good about keeping releases under raps,
they did well with geogaddi but everything else has been
pretty poor. they're an indie label so they have to get a
major buzz going before releasing ep's and albums. drukqs
promo was sent out 3 months before its release, double
figure 2 or 3 months, confield about the same too. p-brane
was online a long time before warp announced it, but then
again plaid were SELLING it at their shows before warp
announced it. me and hundreds of other people have had mp3's
of the new prefuse73 ep for a couple months now and that
release still isn't announced yet. it's kind of a lose/lose
situation for warp - either release promos late and get
lackluster sales without reviews, or release it to
journalists months in advance to generate buzz and lose
sales because of piracy. i think they lose far less sales
the latter way because some of us are responsible about
buying albums after downloading them. i think they're asking
a lot for us to pick up the 3 track ae untitled ep in august
(or september!) after we all downloaded it in march or april
and got over it by may.
