on sale at warpmart. they look amazing!!! but £25 are they

They're taking the piss, it's just because they know people
will buy them as they'll be worth far more in a few years
time. I may get one, but only as an invetment. It's value as
a thing is about as cheap as a Britney Spears lunchbox.

I've got the screen saver kalidescope. That's good enough
for me.

500 is a bit too many. They could have made 100 and charged
£50 for them I reckon. 500 isn't rare enough IMO.

Yeah not really interested in paying for one of those
myself. Unless it's like a handcrafted kaleidoscope by the
group members.

LOL...

double standards eh? a few people complain on this thread
about Warp 'ripping them off' for a £25 kaleidoscope, and
then 'Paco', the Brain of Sweden, freely admits that he has
effectively ripped off the entire BoC back-catalogue as
MP3s...

hypocrisy is the greatest luxury, eh kids?

Oh. Sorry about that one. WarpMart usually removes the "Buy
this item" when things are sold out. It's not removed on the
Kaleidoscope.

Is it worth 25 squid? Not yet ;O]

What are you guys ranting about? Just because they are a
record label doesn't mean they are money grabbing assholes.

How many labels plug thousands of different kind of shirts
for their artists and charge the same?

This is a unique piece of artist promotion... and it suites
BoC...

Besides... kaleidoscopes are fun.

offline Asche XL on 2002-05-21 23:40 [#00228958]

what's IMO mean

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-05-21 23:42 [#00228961]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

Its kind of discouraging to see a bunch of people hating on
a record label just because they are a record label. I mean,
warpmart is one of the most decent online ordering catalogue
things out there... very few mistakes... most orders get out
as soon as possible with a bunch of promo's. They usually
put out music they like, not music they think will fit their
wallet, they brought you artists like BoB, Afx, Æ, Plaid,
[]<, etc etc etc....

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-05-21 23:44 [#00228963]

BoC, I mean, not BoB.

Asche XL, IMO means In My Oppinion.
IMHO means In My Humble Oppinion.

My only complaint is that they are charging too much money
for them.

Those are very cheap kaleidescopes, and without the BoC logo
on the side with the pictures they aren't worth shit...so
charging a lot of money for a low quality product with a
logo thrown on is kind of a shitty thing to do...

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-05-22 01:47 [#00229055]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

Sometimes the artist has as much say, if not more, than Warp
when it comes to these things.

So if you are bitching about price, you may have to look
towards BoC, and not warp. Maybe warp lost money in Geogaddi
sales and they might need to make that money up somewhere
else.

I respect warp, and altho I don't feel they aren't flawed, I
do believe they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Warp lost money in Geogaddi sales, lol.

offline Xanatos from New York City (United States) on 2002-05-22 01:53 [#00229057]

I mean, I don't care whose fault it is, but they shouldnt be
charging 25 pounds for those things. It doesn't really
alleviate it to try to think of reasons for them to do
it...Warp/BoC doesn't need the money, they are not in
debt from selling thousands of copies of geogaddi that they
need the money. They just want it, which is cool, but they
should sell a decent product. It's like charging $4.00 for
a cup of coffee because it says Starbucks on the cup.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-05-22 01:59 [#00229059]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

Like I said earlier. As far as warp is concerned, they set
their price and the amount produced, and if the artists
doesn't like it, it doesn't get released. That goes for
merchandise as well as cd's and vinyl.

I don't necessarily think charging an inordinate ammount for
something like that is necessarily justified, but I also
don't necessarily believe that hating on warp for the price
is justified either.

If I had the money I would buy one, just cause kaleidoscopes
are fun, and a BoC kaleidoscope would be right ace.

you two dont have a clue what you're talking about.
xanatos 'very cheap kaleidoscopes'. bollocks. have you
actually held one in your hand? they're very good actually.
and the story goes that they cost a lot to make and warp
didn't make much profit at all, so chill with the
ill-informed bs.

even more of a reason to own one.
just imagine sitting on the grass in your local park (no,
not *that* kind of park, a GOOD park) chilling with friends,
picnicking, smoking a few and then peering into it! summer's
nearly here. can't wait.
