Since seeing them live in March I have become a plaid-addict...I don't know much about 'Black Dog', but I have heard good things.
Is this a collaboration with plaid and someone else, is it one of the guys from plaid?
Are the albums still commercially available? Are they good?
flarg.

The Black Dog, or Black Dog Productions were Andy Turner, Ed Handley and Ken Downie, releasing albums on GPR, Rising High and Warp, to name but three. The used pseudonymns under the umbrella name of Black Dog Productions in their early days, one of which was Plaid.
If you check out Bytes you'll see tracks from Plaid on it, even though it's a Black Dog album.
The three had a little tiff and Ken took the name Black Dog and went away to do some little things that weren't teriffic, like an EP with Ofra Haza, and an LP on Warp.
The other two became Plaid and you know all about them.
Personally, and despite the fact that the new Black Dog stuff isn't so great, I think it's definitely a case of the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts. As Black Dog Productions, they were piles better than either new Black Dog or Plaid
