Some guy brought LP5 with him when he was buying speakers.
The salesguy asked him if the record was playing backwards
:)

Heard this on a Swedish mailing list.

My mum was afraid the car was falling apart when I had my
Drukqs tape in there. I forgot to turn the radio off when I
last used the car. So when my mum started the ignition she
got this sudden loud wall of sound. It was either Vordhosbn
or Cock ver 10.

Not Autechre but still a parental view of "psycho" music.

i used to have a very sweet car...'95 camero, (it got
wrecked) and was playing some good 'ol merzbow out of it
when i pulled up to the drive through at Mc Donalds...the
lady (nothing against hispanics, but she was prolly an
illegal immigrant because of the age, and poor english, and
we get those up here, so she hella didn't know what noise
was) asked me if i got my car speakers from the local
cartoys...and when i replied "why do you ask?" she said that
her son works there and he don't know crap about stereos...i
didn't get my speakers form cartoys, but i never went there
again.

my mom came into my room once (couple of years ago, when i
was still living at home), and heard some oval. i think it
was systemisch...hmm...anyway, quite glitchy oval. she just
stopped, looked at me, and said: "what the...? can you hear
the washingmachine all the way up here ?? there must be
something wrong with it." and then walked straight out, and
downstairs to have a look at the washingmachine.

now my whole family thinks i'm playing really "weird" music.

i had left all my videos, mp3s, etc. on my old imac i gave
to my brother...
when he got bored, he tried playing the vids, mp3s, etc.

he came across the ae - basscadet video, tried to play it in
rewind, thought it sounded better this way (and i must say
it didn't sound that bad at all, actually... ' _ ')!

(he also came across nin's 'happiness in slavery' video...
oops -_-... but he didn't look very shocked finally.)

I replied: No dad, you're the one hangs...(somewherein the

MY mom always walks into my room and acts cool... ''what's
this your listening to? Sounds neat!'' and taps her feet.

It's fucking Parhelic Triangle, and she's acting like she's
grooving to the beat...

My mum wanted to tape Astrobotnia 2 for the kids in her
school as it had a latin feel to it. Strange.

My dad likes BoC, not so much as to actively put it on, but
he won't throw me out of the lounge if I'm listening to it.

My mum only likes light melodies and easy going stuff. But
that's okay. She didn't freak out when I played her Gantz
Graf funnily enough. Although she DID say she couldn't
listen to it 'often'. Heh.

hes really open minded
always listens to my stuff and helps me with it (he nkows a
fair bit about conventional music writing, he used to pla
lead guitar in bads for years and years)

got a lott rezpekt for my dads musical taste.
he likes most idm (the musical stuff, not the lgitchy
autechre stuff tho), listens to wicked jazz stuff and HATES
r&b and rap.

seriously thout thatthis was the "hip dj music that people

soo many things in that statement are wrong

My cat loves The Future Sound Of London.

Her favourite album is Lifeforms Disc 2. Vit is her fave
track and when I put it on, she goes right up next to the
speaker to listen to it. I think it must be the high
frequencies in it or summat.

Also, when I was playing Brothomstates, my mum came in my

me. But then i switched it to Track 12, Viimo, and she like
it, cause she thought it sounded like Groove Armada, which
she likes.

I actually got the nerve to play some IDM for my dad...I
figured the first minute or so with Dollmaker, to prove him
wrong on that "I can tell if it's real or not" would
work...

It didn't. I was trying to explain on that and Fuck Toronto
Jungle that you can't actually play that fast, and he was
trying to say that he's actually heard jazz musicians play
that fast, that they fool your ears...sigh...When it gets to
arguing with my dad, I just get bored and look out the
window until he's done talking. He said he's pretty open
minded, so next time i'll try squarepusher. I just don't
want to play anything for my brother, since he thinks I
listen to "kill god music" (goddamn NIN) and that all my IDM
is techno crap...He also thinks anime is shit, although he's
never watched any of it. I want to slap the shit out of that
bon jovi loving motherfucker.

Well ok, I don't hate my family that much...cough...
