Now that I think about it, GYBE is probably a better example of my music for my father (or brother), but it's not really IDM then, is it?

my parents thought it sounded like a washing machine on a spin cycle. As for gantz graf, they just looked at each other and didn't say anything! However, my mom quite like the Orb and the Ozrics so that's some progress I supose! :)

my dad thought parhelic triangle was the washing machine breaking (my room is opposite the laundry in our house)..
his comments on saw2: 'i bet you could make better music then this, yeah?' ..
but he said saw85-92 wasnt bad, when i played it to him in the car once..
he called incunabula 'mood music'
and most of the other stuff he calls relaxation music .. or soundtrack music .. a couple of years ago he called all the music i made/listened to 'rap' .. eheh
so i dont really show him my tracks anymore, no matter how much i like the melodies/sounds.. dont think he really has a tolerance for stuff that is electronic, or isnt played live..

My dad pulled up the the driveway one time and he was listening to the saw1 tape i left in his truck..
My dad is a big redneck that chews tobacco and hunts deer and watches NASCAR... he said he liked it.

My mom tries to be a cool hipster and listen to it, my Dad just tells me to throw the adult contemporary radio station back on. WHat a n00b.

My mom thinks Reniform Puls sounds like a bunch of hi-tech farts... and there was a topic about that last week or something! Now I can't listen to the track without giggling like a Japanese school girl, because of you guys and my mutha. Thanks a lot. Ruined it for me!

my mum digs luke vibert (but only the album with the hawaii sounds) and boc and sp. and some early aphex
but my dad is as narrow minded as a funnel... every time i pull out my equipmet to make music he goes like 'get this crap outta my fucking room'.. and one day i was playing pennywise (punkrock) and he asked: 'so this is aphex twin right?'

My dad's a pure eccie head. He goes out clubbing at the grand old age of 45 with his night-glo sticks and everything. He's an embarrassment. He keeps on telling me that ae are pretentious cunts and that i should get into some real hardcore trance. All my mates take the piss out of me because of it but at least he gives me the odd eccie or two.

Haha, I like the Aphex story .. my mom does similar things. It's funny because she tries to learn the names of my stuff but still has a ways to go. Like, usually I am playing Autechre and she asks 'Is this Orbital?'. That one's not *too* far off, but still. The funniest was the other day .,. I think this was it, though I'm not sure: I am playing Dead or Alive, and she says, is this Autechre? :) Bless her heart, trying so hard!

my dad thinks this 'dance' music is way too repetitive, but i tried out the latest QOTSA album and he liked that one. next time i'm passing by home i'll try out ADF and slowly and with subtle moves move to harder darker stuff (but i don't think it'll work out.)
classical lovers always enjoy SAWII
