it sounds so much like my favorite [disappeared to indiana] casio that i wonder if... sort of like how modem noise sounds a certain way and playing a data cd as audio sounds a certain way.... perhaps this is just what it sounds like when you encode a piano noise as PCM and then use the audio to select the addresses to select the audio? |

Why does it sound patterned? Because you are right! A PCM piano wave is periodic and mathematically structured. Because the audio driving the feedback loop is structured, the resulting jumps aren't random white noise—they lock into repeating, fractal-like, geometric rhythms. The PCM binary code is literally writing its own arpeggiator algorithm in real-time. In the coding world, this is called "Bytebeat" synthesis. i've never bothered with the livecoding thing [feels too uptight] is this legit or not? with the AI sometimes i can't tell |

That’s nice , but it’s uncontrolled , too random . That’s not how sound design in done for music . A skilled person who does sound design , they can think of a sound they want and produce it in Xfer Serum / Serum 2 , or MSP . You develop a mental or reference-based target—timbre, pitch behaviour, envelope, texture, movement, spatial character—and then deliberately build toward it using synthesis, sampling, processing, and layering. I needed to make a voice sound , it took some time but was able to get a robotic voice without sampling a human voice , it was constructed . |
