Some questions about Autechre's old bootlegs

Hi all,

as I said in the Dogboy appreciation thread, I'm not
actually him (I'm t yst r on Keyosc). The real Dogboy kindly
let me use his account as it's impossible to create my own
(last registration was in 2015). I needed one to get a
better look at this site in my search for Autechre's old
bootlegs. I'm trying to find out who recorded what and
uploaded it where. I've archived quite a few sets already to
archive.org (ae live archive)

Looking for info has not been easy. This site really doesn't
lend itself too well to go looking for stuff afterwards (no
search function, ambiguous thread titles, etc). So I'd like
to ask you lot some questions;

- JivverDicker (RIP) supposedly had a clean recording of the
2005 London show at SeOne Club, as opposed to the well-known
distorted one. Did he ever give that one up?
- Whatever happened to Mertens (he recorded the 2005 Detroit
show)? Was he active on other sites too? Got a few questions
for him. Not all tampon related, promise!
- Is it known who made the soundboard recordings of Glasgow
2005 and Hemsby 2007?
- A bit of a broader question; Where did the 2001 sets first
appear? Was it p2p mostly, or Dimeadozen?
- Do any of you have recordings that aren't already out
there? I saw some hoarding mentioned, though probably not
done by xlt members.

I had more questions, but resolved some of those already.

Thanks!
Thomas

FAV+
I’d like to think that yoru questions will get answers.
But we only have a small handful of people who are actually
able to post here now. Good luck with your crusades.

RIP jivver/Marky Bell 🪦

if you ever find a half hour dj mix called "ae_mix5_clean"
from around 2003/04 i'd love to hear it again, lost it to a
dead hd. it was a 320kbps mp3 that user k_maty downcoded to
160 so my 56k ass could hear it. features a "push it, push
it" vocal sample and a tempo change into some fuckin beastly
hip hop near the end

my favorite autechre mix is still the old one they streamed
on the warp records site circa 2000. i believe i've found it
on youtube, but with a different intro. tbh, that's not even
strictly autechre material as much as it is them dj'ing &
playing remixes.

godboy tell me about keyosc compared to watmm? How is the
user base?

I used watmm sparingly, but the "new music" forum or
whatever was ok for finding some new jams if you could wade
between all of the analord rip off posts

now I just plum don't know where to find completely new cool
music. I genuinely don't.

@Wolfslice

I'm not sure. I think there are quite a few new users that
weren't on Watmm and quite a few Watmmers that aren't on
Keyosc. My impression is that it's pretty comparable, but
then again comparable to what period? I only got on Watmm in
2011 and never met anyone irl, so I'm probably not the best
person to ask this. Just try it yourself I'd say. It's free
to use, no paid membership.

Some users bring interesting stuff to the forefront. 'Dcom'
is very active in that regard. He regularly posts his new
find sprees.

I think there's a lot more to find, but it's just spread out
over a gazillion platforms. Stuff that won't pop up via
Google searches and whatnot. You probably have to be in all
the different places to find all the stuff as opposed to
finding all the stuff in one place.

Yup, but only cause Joyrex made a point of not passing the
torch. We could have continued this pissing contest just
fine 😆

@Recycle

Meant no disrespect to the board, really. I merely reacted
to the toxic jabs that are aplenty in here. At least, that's
the impression I got searching this place.

that bit at the end of Goodfellas

@Mermaidman

If trolling; 👍

If not; well, I think my intentions are clear. I'm getting
all æ boots in one place. Some of those were first posted
here. Some stuff is still unclear to me, so it made sense to
ask about it here. I'm also hoping to find recordings that
have not yet found their way to the net. There are a few
leads on this board, like Mertens potentially having
recorded a 2008 show (can't find the thread right now). You
could benefit from that too, I guess. Or not.

Also, K_maty talked about recording the Baltimore show in
2005. That wasn't followed up upon afaik.

Learned of his passing in this thread... RIP

You ask the most deep autechre community related question
possible to users in the right place at the right time.

I ask simpler autechre questions

What is your favorite lp and favorite ep?

Who is hotter Sean or Rob? Its rob BTW.

All I can do is try 🤷‍♂️

Favorite: tricky... I'd have to say Quaristice and
Quadrange, though I consider those to be one entity.

My point of entry into Autechre was Draft. First track I
heard was Surripere no less. Instant love! I liked
electronic music before, I knew it was my thing. But I
craved something more and didn't know what it was. That
became clear when I heard ae. I realized I had been
listening to junk all along and never went back to it. I got
to know their discography, but Draft remained my favorite.
First love kind of things maybe, though it's majestic
regardless. Then came Untilted, which I loved. Then
Quaristice, loved that too. But after a lot (!) of repeated
listens it became my solid favorite and has remained so
until now. Simmm has to be my favorite track. It's as
diverse a track as the album it's on.

Definitely Rob, but Sean just needs a makeover. Some change
of wardrobe too for the both of em. They ain't in their
twenties no more.

North face transcends age and racial boundaries

Surripere is a dope pick especially around 4:40 when that
industrial meat slicer starts cutting the beat and the kicks
start coming in rapid fire.

My favorite track is dial from gantz graf. But lentic
catachresis and all end are really close

I wouldn't be able to identify any gucci products but I can
spot a north face or new balance shoe like no ones
business.

I also couldn't identify prada or chanel or anything else.
Oh whats that stupid fucking purse that has like playing
card symbols? It's brown and looks like a piece of shit. I
don't know who makes it but it's really popular amongst poor
women trying to look rich. Also I don't think i've ever
heard a taylor swift song unless it's been on an ad or
something. I liked Adele's rollin in the deep and I think
she was sexier when she was fat
