i mean, i don't really have a place to setup gear anymore. or at least, i always have to pack it back up within a few hours and it's both not enough time and too annoying. i think i am going to try and curate the ~25 years of music i already have [more? what about all that, you greed monkey?!!] get it online, then try and find, like, a student. to show all the cool shit i've learned in that time. it seems more fulfilling at this point |

...less-so or more-so than having children? the student thing; seems about right. if i'm not getting much traction with my music -- or i'm feeling like i probably never will, i guess -- along with feeling like it's an indulgence; something i feel guilty for "wasting" time on... if i'm feeling rather exhausted and sour [sorry] with everything... yeah, find someone who is young and naive enough to be wildly enthusiastic about music production; walk 'em through all the things that utterly blew my mind when i learned... figure it'd feel less self-indulgent than banging out another acid track. both youthful enthusiasm and having someone look up to me and actually listen to me would probably make me less sour comes out of being at a party and talking about music production with some twentysomething and he was asking, like, can i teach him some stuff? and how do you... because he wants some of that "old-skool touch" to his... and i cringe; shit. i'm old. ugh but later, i thought: him and that other guy, it was fun to have them hanging off my every word here and there... when, like, yes, you have a basic conception of wavetable synthesis; you know the word, but do you... ...and yes, that was much more fun than talking about that stuff with people who either [have no idea WTF, or already know everything i do and STFU] sort of scratching the itch of, like... i don't want my shit to be lost, like tears in the rain etc. and if i'm having trouble being recognized in a broader sense it would make sense to concentrate on a few individuals and have significant influence as a mentor this topic was supposed to be for tony danza and i to talk about trudeau. you bastards |
