its cause libertarians are annoying and we know we're annoying, so mostly we just keep to ourselves. I'm probably more of a "classical liberal," but they both fit the bill pretty well. (see even that sentence was annoying!)

dems lost because they didn't bring anything progressive

I think it's more to do with the Working Class vote, which isn't as mired in the identity politics beloved of those who don't work but instead spend their lives online and confuse their freakish cabal as some kind of reflection of the real world. Sad.

No I don't. Many Latino and Black working class dont identify with your shrill politics, they consider themselves working class. Sadly (for you) we can't all work in Academia and NGOs, dressing up and frightening the children. Some people have to go to work. And they're too busy to listen about you worried you can't have an abortion.

i hate to say it but i don't think the people are to blame, gowever anerican they moght be. they've been cursed with the most corrupt and stagnant institutions in all of the world and i can't blame reasonable people for not showing up to vote. i actually find it encouraging in a way. trump hasn't really made any progress even though people are increasingly fed up with supposedly mainstream politics.
shame about all the embezzlement that's going to happen now but what can you do.

‘i hate to say it but i don't think the people are to blame’
Well that’s mighty big of you.
It just goes to show how bad multi million dollar celebrity endorsements ,and left wing dominated media in the US is, to regrettably admit it’s not the ‘people’ that are at fault for voting in the way you all expected/wanted.

i don't know what you're talking about but i'm talking about how harris ran with a mostly right wing programme, palling around with dick cheney and courting the fabled "moderate conservative" thus demobilising her left wing base.
it'll be a few years before we can get serious numbers, but from what i'm seeing, trump didn't really get any new voters (he got 2 million less votes than last election, when he lost). democrat voters just didn't bother to show up.

no i'm saying that left wing policies are actually popular if you look at the downballot races (whatever that is) but dems are unpopular to their own base because they're awful and they're trying to appeal to right wing people who are not their base. i think it's rather easy to understand if you haven't gone literally insane with social media nonsense telling you dems are fascist 1984 communist social justice refugees welcome pronouns woke nonbinary black woke trans drag queen woke trans trans female penis dylan mulvaney sports trans gametes dei hire cancel culture

there still is some sensible people running the system and institutions. i dont mean politicians or oligarchs. which is why humanity hasnt completely fucked up. but one of these days, something might go horribly the wrong way and to me it seems we are steering right towards it.
it is time for us to find common ground again.
