How do you feel about Reagan's response to the AIDS
epidemic?

earnest good faith answer

Dunno too much about his response there, just skimmed
through the wiki entry Ronald Reagan and AIDS, and there's some
good, some bad. Most of it details this C. Everett Coop guy,
who I only really know from the Ali G interview (does you
think that maybe I might never die?).

This socially conservative moral high approach he takes on
some issues is probably the main reason Regan lost a point
with me to begin with. The left takes a similar approach
today with equity driven self righteous moral grandstanding.
It's the same shit, different spin. I think the Christian,
religious right end started to lose traction a long time
ago. I feel the Clinton, Bush, Obama era had less of this
garbage, it's just come back to the mainstream in a big way
with some extremely sanctimonious progressive thinking. It
looks different today, but it amounts to the same oppressive
ONE RIGHTOUS WAY OF THINKING nonsense.

thanks. I really don't know much about AIDS in the 80s. I'm
glad that in the west, it's sorted to the point where people
are actively protecting themselves more than ever and there
are drugs that seem to all but cure it.

If you want the most direct statement here it is...

The best of that wiki article was that Regan called for some
human compassion for AIDS victims. I'll give him that, Trump
probably WOULDN'T have done the same in that era.

The WORST of that article is that Regan essentially outright
said homosexuality is a sin. What a bullshit stance. The
concept of a sin in general, when morality is so clearly
subjective, is so clearly bullshit to me. Two sexy dudes
fucking, get at it boys. I legit hope the sex is good and
beyond that, that you bears can cozy up, feel comfortable
and enjoy your life, watch a little Breaking Bad and fuck
all this nonsense.

I'm too stupid to actually put it any more succintly, but it
conveys the general idea when it comes to social issues.

You seem to be very focused on discourse and surface
statements rather than actual policy effects. It's a little
funny coming from someone who complains about moralising so
much! Personally I think refusing to even acknowledge the
illness publicly until like 50,000 people had died is the
damning part.

I am cheered by the thought that there will be a last
American president, probably soon.

i am running for president. my platform is: 420 smoke weed
in the oval office everyday

details:

- 420 smoke weed in the oval office everyday

- i cannot stand things that are poorly engineered and
compulsively re-engineer them, even if no one wants me to.
as president, i can make lots of other people do this for
me

- i am patient when someone has ears to learn, but i do not
suffer fools gladly

- i will be a one-term president both because a) 4 years is
enough of my life fixing everyone else's horseshit b) people
will be sick of me by then too

- as a one-term president, i will get stuff done instead of
running a long advertisement for re-election

- the law banning ex-presidents from driving cars will be
repealed to fuck. because you motherfuckers. i do all this
shit for you, you want to take away my keys? that's for
biden

vote for me

Fecalith

that's the condition. that i can't stop pooping myself
before, during, and after the SWAT team dragging me out of
the house naked. WE'RE INJECTING YOU WITH KETAMINE,
GEOFFREY
the asshat jock EMT declares. they jab me in
both shoulders at once. i noticed no subjective effects; no
shulgin scale. all it did was piss me off even more

this is the america i woke up in a week and a half ago and
i'd like to fix it, patriots
