rip Akira Toriyama.

I didn't get into DragonBall at a young age. My wife got me
hooked around 2012, and I conceed it's excellence. It was a
lot of fun to watch and this man's earnest creativity is
unmatched in the current year. Genuine rip for a real one.

i remember when lechmere, when they were closing down and
flogging anything left in the back room for <$cost. my
family and i went around scrounging and then my parents
decided "fuck it the line is too long" and then, to my fury,
we abandoned the cart and simply left. according to
wikipedia, this had to be 1997.

they had dragonballz on their remaining Wall Of TVs For Sale
and i thought: "people at computer camp talked about this"
but i hadn't been told about "over 9000" and i saw that for
the first time right then and there on a half-dozen TVs at
once.

the people at computer camp also mentioned "anime" which i'd
never heard of and "check out manga" and they gave me ranma
1/2. which was a strange read at 10 or 11, in '95 or '96

i watched absolutely none of this show again until, oh,
2011-12, when my boyfriend was watching it and they're on
about HIS POWER LEVEL and i think: "yes, this is every bit
as corny and crap as i imagined it to be"

can we talk about initial d or space battleship yamamoto
instead plz?

so you watched like 1 out of context with the shitty english
children's dub?

I would have hated it too.

I remember watching a dubbed pokemon episode back in the day
where Brock was like "HEY ASH, WANT A DONUT?!" when he
clearly handed him a onigiri rice ball, wrapped in seaweed.

It's like they think western audiences are too stupid to
understand even a basic rice ball. I'm not being an elitist
here, but watching ANY anime or ANYTHING made in a foreign
language dubbed over in english will ruin the experience,
flat out.

hey,
first up, my social media/politics break feels good,
gonna keep it that way just reading sporadically.

anyway, just downed the first 12 episodes,
two days prior to this thred.
my wife spoke about db, how she wanted to see it again just
days before that, still havent told her the mangaka is dead,
we were having so much fun watching the show the past week.

had to figure out the dubbings too, apparently there are 6
english dubbings which are all considered to be kind of
shitty ^-^
we watched nowadays most common english dub with fansubs (i
think) rather translating the original dialogue than some
deviant translation, and watched the last episodes in
japanese too. child gokun and bulma are such fun characters,
really, lots of fun and some original art to look at. loving
the background images too.

so, r.i.p. to a fine artist

i mean a RIP thread. and i think i have it in: look at that
man's expression; can you not see how perfectly that same
manic grin has bled out into the show itself? and i suppose
that is the beauty of it

but i'd have to ask again if anyone has watched, like
initial d. or space battleship yamamoto
