A lot of puppies have died because of this thread. I don’t know how similar or relevant this is but I once had a neighbour who abducted his girlfriend. He would tie her to the radiator so she wouldn’t leave. He went to jail. The weird thing is they lived with a trans person who just thought it was ok. One night a guest of theirs stabbed her partner in the neck. Smoking crack cocaine all day and night is bad, m’kay. I intervened a few times and they respected me as the old dude with sneakers and a hip hop background. But when they were too high I’m glad the police intervened a few times. I see myself as a bit of a Christian Anarchist in the Tolstoy sense, not the bat shit crazy American version. In fact scratch that, I don’t belong to any group especially religious. But the Kingdom of God is inside you by Tolstoy really resonated with my thinking. Anyway all that to say anarchism is a wonderful utopia to me. Unfortunately we need cops. Maybe with a different approach. |

Being asked every other day to ban someone. Being called a coward because I tried to have the place as free as poss. It was meant to be a convenient xlt but people wanted it modded. any admin will eventually bottom out and ban someone. i've been through this arc with the yugo forums myself. i was fully convinced i would never ever ban anyone -- like that -- and then i've done it, and people are mad at me, and i'm mad at myself, and DAMMIT. you know what? this is not something a human is capable of but you can't just have open season on the open internet. you'll never get a community off the ground in all that chaos. then it also cannot grow past a certain scale or we all can't know each other.
