One of my co-workers is an older (well late 50s) black woman with some attitude. We don't have too much in common, but we still get along well. She's always trying to give me snacks like cupcakes and shit but I'm really watching my sugar these days. I needed something from the office, so I pulled my car up (a bit away from the entrance) and leave it running, and have a quick smoke with her up the deck. She points to a group working underneath a different car a short distance away. "Those boys are jammin out! The beat sounds TOIGHT!" And I was like "no, thats coming from *my* car, that's my beat! I'm working on it right now!" She gave me an apprasing look and told me that my beat was "pimpin." She gave me an "mmmmhmmm," as well. Now granted, the windows were mostly up, it was pretty muffled. She might have recoiled at some of the more abstract touches if hearing it properly... But I think it was the best compliment I've ever received, since there was no solicitation involved. Only my mom has nicer things to say. The beat needs more work I'll post it here in a week or two mb. That's all. Tl;dr an older black woman liked my jam and I came here to brag about it. |

if i'd read this on reddit, i wouldn't have believed this. still almost too perfect to be true. congrats, tho i guess the detail that makes it believable and which i like is the detail about the windows. maybe my advice is to make that song, cause less is better ^_^ too bad tony had to make things racial again |

Yeah I think the "mmmhmm" reads so cartoonish that it's almost unbelievable. She says that every day though, it's like her tagline. Otherwise this post is a combination of both uniquely self serving AND quaint... it would probably be the lamest lie I've ever concocted. Anyway I dunno if I'll ever get around to finishing or posting the whole thing, but here's the bit she liked: credit to T.D. for track title. |
