it's labor day weekend and everyone's out grilling and celebrating and fucking lewis smoked all my cigs and drank all my coffee because he was "in a bad mood" after i told him fucking not to. and he's trashing the house. 48 hours before, i hadn't seen him in over a year and figured that was the way it can stay and then suddenly, can he move here? okay because i really fucking need the help with rent [which just went up]. now i'm even more behind in work because of that jerk, he's declaring "it's a shared household" and FUCK OFF two days ago i had no idea you'd even travel back over here and now it's half your house and you're free to fuck my shit up? and you never paid me ANYTHING in rent last time you were here doing that? and okay get out of my house and no, it's a shared house. fuck off. until i'm fucking screaming at the top of my lungs at him, alternating between threatening to call the cops and kick his ass. and this guy used to be one of my best friends and he's not grasping "PLEASE DO NOT USE UP ALL MY SHIT BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD MORE AND I WILL GO MENTAL IF YOU DO" and no one's giving a fuck about my vinyl data idea, which is really the only thing i want to work on anymore, i spent yesterday hiding in bed in a pile of misery from the wake of that blowout, and then i'm thinking: serato uses phase of the pilot tone to tell direction but we don't need that for data so instead we roll that into the QAM implementation and it'd work but i will be dead soon at this rate, and no one cares anyways. unless they need me to find some old xltronic post |

and you're vinyl idea is it anything like this? vinyl is so full of shit, these days. it's all pressed to vinyl from digital computer files. mike p admitting in an interview that he's pressed vinyl from fucking YOUTUBE RIPS. for a while i spoke of my deep interest in 16-track, proper tape -- still an interest -- and everyone's all "Why do you want to work with tape?!" and "well then i could press vinyl that was a full analog signal path and ACTUALLY BE FUCKING WORTH A SHIT" and no one gets that either. so i say: I WANT TO PRESS A ~100MB FLAC FILE TO A VINYL RECORD TO MAKE A FUCKING POINT and it turns out this a deeply difficult signal-processing problem. you can't do it like ZX spectrum software. you have to come up with an entirely novel encoding scheme. and no one cares but the problem has simply taken me over i can't let it go. and i actually care about solving this and making it real more than whether anyone will give a shit after i do |
