i think he's going to take a massive dump this week on
the 18th.

given that his birthday is friday and the next day is a
saturday... i, too, foresee a massive D.A.D.S.¹ early
saturday afternoon, ginger time

i wonder what it's like having your soundcloud avatar
changes analyzed in the context of your upcoming birfday by
loads of people you don't know on the internet

a combo he appreciates. that it's my track but it's his
birthday and people are all IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU
CHANGED YOUR AVATAR WHERE IS THE NEW MUSIC so i say "oh stop

Exclusive pink covered vinyl according to Reddit there's 100
copies at the show then vouchers you can buy to get the
record posted to you

everybody?

I hate these releases. Why not just make more copies for

busine$$. artificial scarcity increases the perceived value.
if every pink vinyl were direct to bleep, then:

- everyone would buy it at once...
- ...leading to no one feeling special and privileged [like
afx is giving them a personal ride in the "ferret"]...
- ...since people don't feel like they've won the lottery
they are more likely to objectively evaluate the pink
vinyl...
- ...and realize it's just a DJ mix and autechre's are
better...
- ...and finally everyone would have two or three pink
vinyls and no one would buy them anymore

HOWEVER!!
you'll be able to pirate it soon enough; what's the harm in
warp selling a small run at jizzing-fanboy level prices?
they probably make more off this than a large run because
they can charge more per record and shipping costs are
balls. i'm fine with things as i see it. except for umbro
needing to take some deep breaths

the formats: (few minutes for lots of cash) dont tempt me.
i skipped many eps, except for the analords or collapse,
should have skipped cheetah actually, but i was craving..
the hype: good for those involved
the money made: again good for those involved
its better than starving musicians.
i dont want anybody to starve to make more music.

then again, i wouldnt have minded a few more minutes on the
latest real release though, at least to justify a physical
purchase. i mean the artwork is a stunner but the music is
over before you really indulged it. and apart from the first
track the remaining 2 and a half still feel kind of
unfinished to me.

anyway new music is always good to hear,
and there is a great track.
so heres to my whiny miiimiii miny moe.

better than the new afx

hah, thought the same, the last time i heard a blaring 303
in a oldschool rave track, but that moment will probably
pass and some other time im glad for some soft touch
bassline and mellow synth sounds. the joyful playness of
ceephax and the top notch syntheme goonerie tend to get me
every time.

recently id love some albums that have that
atari/amiga/tracker sound, im talking about the tracker that
was really good at making metallic sounding pitch bending
stuff, like in late 80s eraly 90s pinball machines, once
again i forgot the name of the tracker that does it on pc.

It's not business. They could make tons of cash selling them
in high numbers. I read an article once that Richard sells
these at concerts so the people buying them can get a little
money back for the high entrance prices. It would have been
nice from warp if they'd sell other copies after the tour.
F.e. in a concert ep.box or.something like that. Now I can
only get my hands on them for ridiculous prices.

field day was ok. aphex was great. the festival was kinda
meh, didnt feel any of the other artists. arca or orca
before afx i walked away from. was very "look at me i'm on
stage" personality non stop and cringe for days. aphex set
was fantastic, so many good ones. the brooklyn unreleased
track 5 that has been my absolute favvvvv - and all the
lights got toned down just blackness and green lasers. so
good hearing that out cant stress enough. marion from the
older field day. RFC (and he played the whole thing out too
- what a treat). analord 9 slammmmmmmmmmed hard. overall
one of the best sets i just wish there was room to dance.
not a fan of festivals and field day is like everything i
hate pushed to 11. had to arrive an hour or so early to get
a decent spot in the middle and just too many people crammed
in and talking. but it was still wicked seeing him in the
park

this morning i dreamt i was in a a festival crowd just
entering the venue, when a promoter or tv team came asking,
"whos crazy mad dancer and loves a good time" or something
and then i kind of forced myself in there within the
youthsters to be brought on a shuttle bus to some other
parts of the stages to be filmed for marketing bs or so. all
the while i just hoped the music was gonna be any good and
not bland. weird dream haha,
thinking now that i love a good spot to dance, spotlight or
not and do crave a decent festival. this year i have only
been to some free band evenings where the hat passes and a
one time rollerdisco and one drum and bass night. they were
all great but i could do with a bit more.

damnit there was this one night in the bretagne, when after
a gyspy polka band where i danced on the street a dj came
and she played the best house set i ever heard in the crepes
cafe minutes from the camping. it was all full of arpegggio
italo style, but also had tons of other playful synth and
some dubby vocal elements. it was all i wanted for
christmas. then i had to argue with my wife who wasnt
dancing and wanted to leave, when everybody in that place
wanted to enjoy that two and a half hours of freaking out
and had the times of their lives.

now i wanna see afx damnit. not playing any place close to
me again.
and the prices at the closest festival were just absurd.
you can make a vacation on that kind of money.
