Was listening to Milan last night. Love the sound like FM driven resonators clanging at around 15:20 onward. They've used that a few times before but I forget where.

listened to milan thru london A. I hear london B is the bee's knees, so that's gonna be fun to listen to.

  enjoying it a lot
tho I will admit- I prefer my ae like 20% more hip hoppy. I "get" this more freeform goodness too, and it sounds great--

but when autechre dials the fuck in with a bit of hip hop, they dial the fuck in. and t hat's all i have to say about that.

Gotta hard disagree on that one.
Vproc Nuane Rale Milk dx Zeiss Contarex The whole envane ep? Those are 100% ae hip hopsters
I guess by 20% I just mean the rhythms lock slightly more into some loose but discernable kick snare based grooves, which is really most of their stuff. Still enjoying these sets very much tho.

This new stuff sounds more like pure jazz.
Forget the pint of black stuff-- these would go terrific with LSD, which turns the universe into pure jazz anyway

You probably meant like "a pint of black culture (ie hip hop). In me ae."

Maybe the reference was more obscure, like lp5s album cover being black. Or maybe it was even a rerence to the darker tone of some of the tracks I listed (zeiss, Raleigh, even nuane are darker ae.

That's the best I can do, pretentiousautstictracks. Good enough?

have you seen Snatch (2000)? remember when bullet-tooth tony says, "Landlord! A pint of the black stuff!" before making a show of ignoring...

...anyways, hoppy, IPae, then we're onto guinness -- a pint of the black stuff -- and then yes you got the rest

I did! I saw it in the theater as a teenager. I remember being pissed because I couldn't understand half of what their Irish asses were saying. Same issue with Boondock Saints and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Now I just watch literally everything with subtitles like an old man, so it's not a problem any more. I watched The Shining (for the 20th time) last night and had to download an .srt file for English subs to understand Danny in a couple of scenes. He did a genuinely good job with the role, but motherfucker still too young to enunciate properly.

how did cockney wind up crossing "geezer" -- which means, like, some old guy -- with "goon" as in, "...they'd be too shit scared; i'm a geezer" from lock stock?

a lot of that movie. "jack in the box, look nasty and stuff" -- like, yes, perfectly obvious what that meant, but... how? ditto for "...switches the lizer over"

I can hang with cockney. I can hang with most English from England. It's the Irish and Scottish mofos that I can't understand. I'm like 100% Scottish, Irish, English too-- but it makes no difference when you're raised in California.

Hot take: American English is clean as fuck. I can't imagine most Europeans are going to misunderstand the vast majority of this country due to accent issues. Sure, an expection for bumfuck alabama maybe but they have nothing worthwhile to say anyway.

"Proper" Londonish english clean as well, hard to mis-understand, and super, super sexy when spoken by beautiful women.

But when you drop all your fucking T's and call a Bottle of Water a B'OH O WO-UH it's like what the fuck are you even doing.
