is this a puzzle?

the drum sound in the outro that goes . . .
is that a pitched up kick drum? with gate reverb?

really makes you hear it when you put it right on again
after it ends. and then you hear it very clearly. which is
unfortunate, because it's... well... terrible? that's my
opinion, anyways.

my absolute first impression was "too much reverb" and i
wish i'd just impulsively posted it before clicking play
again. because when i clicked play right after that outro, i
was consumed by "oh my god it's everywhere" and "what was i
thinking again"

and now i'm having trouble accessing that first impression.
it's a previous copy of me. i can remember being that way.
do you know how it is when a repeating noise in a song will
get you this bad? i do. that's why i'd hope my music is
largely free of it. anyways

the two loud piano? pian-oh. as in 0:26. yes, that's
the sort of crap piano sound a korg or something will have
as the "welcome to korg" preset when you turn it on, and i
think that that this was a genuine "shiiit whoops" moment
because he was expecting the much nicer noise he set up on
channel five but then it went to channel 8 which was stock
piano and it was unceremoniously muted

1:04 ~ that nice little filter bubbly appears, but it's way
too quiet. there's some nice melody going on, but it's very
hard to hear. i so very much wish the cowbell were louder.
is he on one of those rolands with the separate outs? the
gated outro sound, vs. the dry clap (no complaints) vs. the
too-quiet cowbell... if i used these roland machines i'd
have the right words. does anyone have an anatomical chart
of an 808?

the actual first sound -- the pad -- is great. but it drowns
out a lot of the song for many reasons. combined with the
snare, this is why i thought "too much reverb" and by the
good stuff buried past 1:04 it's like "i know this feeling"
because this is a great song that got clobbered at the
finish line and you can hear it

imo

but, deeper? i have this folder of his shit i got off
myspace. and like, here:

LAZY_TITLE

and it's like "what a saucy boy"

...compared to suzannznelonge which is like wistful
nostalgia over half a bottle of wine, remembering when we
had sauce

yeah i never liked that piano it sounded cheap and the
cutoff and just out of place. something a lot more
taiylored could have went there. otherwise great tune like
mst of daves stuff

my fav is if you slow 10-MNLTH-Spwint_(eeytoEatemix) down
to -38. it becomes this hyper funky jam. -42 is nice and
chill also.

beautiful melody on that one once you slwo it down

i was trying to place it last time. that my brain offers a
comment in the form of reaching out and placing a sticker of
a dripping tear noise coming off of his zusanne pads ~0:41

and oh, got it: this whole song is like crying in your face
but not as good. so that's why the pads take all the
attention, he's holding them out in front of himself with
both arms. and i'm probably wrong about the piano being a
MIDI channel mistake, but i'm not wrong about it sounding
like a crap default korg preset.

it fits together just lovely

gubba sala... that one i posted?

- that "gubba s"aucy boy
- that suzannalog the portrait of the artist reminiscing
over half a bottle of wine about back when he had sauce

i mean... dead on for the mood, yes? the comparative vibes
of both? that i'm not usually in the mood for the latter,
and this part of it actually has nothing to do with which
track is better on a technical level?

also, gubba s is better on a technical level

here, let's do another mood LAZY_TITLE ~ which i'd
describe as "burn rides during summer with a bit of wet
pavement smell"

i was wondering if this thread was all a setup to scare me:
"JUST LOOK. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED WHEN MONOLITH GOT MONEY --
HE SWITCHED TO TAPE AND NOW LOOK AT HIS TRACKS"

i think i was just being paranoid

also:

~1:15 in that "it's genocide, don't you see? genocide in the
first degree"

either vocoder sampled off storm the studio... or ran storm
the studio through a vocoder himself. show them greg
