Entitled Aphex Twin: Every Album, Every Song, it
systematically goes through each piece of music recorded by
Richard D. James under the alias, including his six studio
albums plus EPs on R&S, Warp, Rephlex and other labels. The
book also includes releases put out under the names Caustic
Window, Polygon Window, Bradley Strider and others.

Some material that never received a proper release, such as
Melodies from Mars and Aphex Twin's track dumps on
SoundCloud, are skipped, though the book does cover the
Caustic Window LP, since that was given a limited digital
release.

At only 17 years old, the author, Beau Waddell, wasn't alive
when most of James's music was released. That aside, he
carefully works through each track, recording catalogue
numbers, times and dates, and production information, as
well as many of the myths that surround the reclusive
artist.

The book is part of the On Track series, which also delves
into the back catalogues of other artists like Pink Floyd,
Radiohead, The Human League and New Order.

there are like 100 others of what are clearly AI-generated
books, about depeche mode "every album, every song"

the RA writeup i've quoted reads like... yeah, an input
prompt for an AI to generate the book. so maybe RA behind
this?

bloody hell

What’s more, at the end of his set, James gave away 200
labelled and packaged sheets of sandpaper marked with his
logo as a kind of memento for attendees. These have since
periodically resurfaced on eBay, listed as collector’s
items for overinflated prices.

The second iteration of James’ notorious performance took
place at NYC’s The Knitting Factory, which hosted a
two-night billing of acts chosen by the Disobey team.
“[Disobey] really got into it and invited me to go to
America to do it again,” James told Alternative Press.
“It was only supposed to be a one-off, but they wanted to
pay me and take my friends, so I did it.”

This time, though, James was about to one-up himself,
bringing along not only one but two unorthodox items that he
planned to use in mixing things up. His trusty sandpaper,
laid on the turntable, was joined by a mixer, but perhaps
not the kind you’re thinking of. This was the type of
appliance you might use to blend vegetables, not tracks.
“I was shitting myself about the lawsuit
that that would entail. But he came and found me afterwards
and said, ‘Can you sign this, it hit me on the
head?!’“

When he was finished coaxing unearthly noises out of his
sandpaper, the second half of James’ set saw the producer
placing a microphone inside a kitchen mixer and flipping the
power switch. Describing how the night unfolded, James
recalled in a matter-of-fact fashion, “I just mixed some
sandpaper together for a bit and then played a food
mixer.” Just an average night on the decks, then.

i mean maybe it's obviously sad, this AI-generated book
"every track" -- that maybe he's even partially responsible,
or on board. but if not. please sue -- because trivial as it
is, it sets a precedent and if you don't stop it more will
show up. either way, popcorn.gif

Orsered at local book store
20$ /// 35£
The 120 lb girl, with a few holes and piecings in her face
and some very unusual tattoos on her neck and arms
behind the customer service booth said that the book has a
release date of z2-3 weeks away but it’s not a hard date
so
It could be here in about a week

it's going to be... all the tracks, off all the albums.
listed out. filling up pages. with time listings. things to
look for here: flagrant errors to the point of lol. probably
won't be many as this is factual/stat stuff and pretty basic
to get largely correct

then there will be blurb interludes; AI-generated text. i am
figuring this will be awful. resist the urge to post the
awful of the first page or three, because you'll find that
there's pages and pages of it and what you really want to
post here are the few diamonds in the rough that stand a
level above awful, to turn around and reach such an unholy
level of awful that it's almost art. almost

[given that there were scads of other books exactly like
this for scads of other artists, yeah, i suspect this is how
it will go]

only thing missing is a very strong opinion on the thing

there are LOADS of other 'books' for 'every track' in
exactly the same pattern as this, on amazon....
reddit bots shilling this made it look semi legit, "we were

fairly good idea having the author as a young lad,no one
wants to crush their vibe... let this be a lesson to us:
routinely brutalise youngsters.

i tried to make it clear from the start. when i said afx
should sue, i wasn't joking at all.

and, yes, that last part -- it wasn't the fact that it was a
"young lad" that put the final nail in the coffin, it was
the name -- beau waddell. like, alright, fuck off. now i'm
sure this is bollocks

into a script to generate them all

that, with apologies to recycle, idiots will actually buy
this, as recycle has clearly demonstrated. i do kind of see
the appeal of "what's that" then "oh it's a crap illegal AI
generated book about aphex i got off the internet"

but if you let it go, it will keep going. and i also tried
to describe how the book would be; that it won't be anywhere
near as good as one would hope from a crap AI book. so even
if you accept that it's a crap AI book, you'll still be
disappointed. if it ever actually arrives

the real victim so far is recycle's local bookshop, who
presumably had to pay upfront to order a copy. or a few

i was saying: you didn't have to pay upfront, recycle, but
the bookstore probably did. ...and it still hasn't arrived,
has it?

at least it's a chain and not a truly local place. but
barnes and nobles is alright, you can go in there and read a
whole book and no one says shit
