moby's songs are a bland, continuous, soylent green kinda
thing, the only time he kills it is when he lifts half of a
blues song via sampling (natural blues etc)

on further reflection

that i used to be all, "moby has a couple good tracks, sure"
and i'm old enough to have read his blog when he was
launching teeny or whatever and he's writing about things
like the time he had a one night stand with a fan and he
still feels terrible about it and

i was not yet old enough to get laid, but i do remember
thing: what a weird sad asshole

but that didn't change my summary from, "moby has a couple
good tracks, sure" -- as in; why get into any of that?

but then there's this interview and he has massive stacks
floor to ceiling of beautiful drum machines and he says "oh
no i don't turn them on i just sample them and put them on a
shelf"

and then my summary of moby morphed into my previous post.

i was about to say, "ok, he paints this ascetic hippie
image, but really, it feels like..." and then wikipedia all

Moby described his life as a "very clean" one and
abstained from drugs, alcohol, and "for the most part",
sex.[3] After taking LSD once at nineteen, he started to
suffer from panic attacks which he continued to experience
but learned to deal with them more effectively.[15] Shortly
after his mother died from lung cancer in 1997, Moby
recalled that he had "an epiphany" and experimented with
alcohol, drugs, and sex which continued for four years after
the commercial success of Play.[3][18][30] He became a
self-confessed "old-timey alcoholic".[6] During his 18 tour
in 2002 he found himself being argumentative and alienating
close friends. At the end of the year he wished to make
amends and live a healthier lifestyle and promised a
girlfriend that he would quit alcohol for one month; he
lasted two weeks.[3][168] Moby continued to drink to excess
and would ask audiences at concerts to give him drugs.
Matters culminated shortly after he turned 43 when he
attempted suicide; he had his last drink on October 18,
2008, and has since attended Alcoholics Anonymous
meetings.[169][170][171] In 2016, he said of his sobriety:
"Since I stopped and reoriented myself towards things that
have meaning, everything has gotten a million times
better".[12]

but you're still a colossal sack of shit for keeping all
those beauties caged up gathering dust in your upscale loft
with shit like room within a room that i very well never be
able to afford ever. he strikes me as just being one of
those people who is talented at "new york" as much as a city
can be a resume bullet point

i guess i'd recommend moby take some lessons from the lcd
soundsystem guy: like, still be an utter git, but write
somewhat decent music and just wear an undershirt everywhere
instead of being a vegan egomaniac
