I’m surrounded by snowy mountains but it was 11c today.
Read about this wind chill in the news. Sounds harsh… are you at least warm at home, epic?

The coldest windchill temps to ever hit parts of Canada and northern US.
And ice down in Texas where they never see snow or below 35 degrees

i'm fine; concern appreciated. i'm wearing a t-shirt, a polar-fleece sleeveless vest, a hoodie, and then a thicker hoodie. the polar-fleece is the first thing i got for free via juicing an internet promotion during the _first_ dot com boom. it's literally 20 years old and has held up like a champ.
but this is really out of standard new england attitude: it's really cold! i should turn down the heat to save money.
mostly, though, just some moments of... whoa; wow. like, i opened the bathroom window to air things out, just a crack, and i literally hear the windowframe start to crack and bang from the shift in temp within seconds. i closed it because... wow. LOUD. don't want it to freaking break. that it literally is possible for your glasses to crack when you step outside in this sort of extreme.
mostly i'm just antsy from not walking nearly as much as i'm used to. the one upshot of the pandemic has been normalizing facemasks: you can just wear one if you feel like it; no excuse needed. and they're a neat trick walking in this weather

it's actually getting warmer as the evening progresses; temp will continuously rise until afternoon tomorrow!
supposed it's some plume sucked down from the arctic. at least texas is doing better than that other time

they closed schools because of the cold that never happened a single time to me.
i went on a walk early. like 1.5mi. i am approaching my house, and i think: mmm, no. and i essentially do the same walk over again. then an extension. because people will be exploding like hives once the sun comes up
...and, going to pick up breakfast, people with dogs everywhere. carrying breakfast back home, i am nearly mowed down by an indignant pack of joggers, who... at first i thought it was just two, and they're across the street. then something in my brain goes "crap" and i think "shutup anxiety" but then i look up and they've crossed the street and there are like fifteen of them. they wash around me like water and one very definitely goes "ppf"
but he's probably just feeling how i felt before that walk this morning. snerk

it'll be above freezing shortly
rest of the 10-day forecast, like... worst is 19F, 14F w/wind... none of these -10/-31 rolls
yeah that was pretty damn cold. i remember it regularly going below 0F regularly growing up, but i don't recall -10 flat happening before wind
