Historically, it has NOT gone well when I've mentioned that
I'm a fan of ICP on this board. To the point of it being the
primary association one would have with Wolfslice-- "that's
the guy that likes ICP?" I've seen that more than once on
this forum.

But I've had a little booze, playign this grand theft auto 3
remaster on steam, and listening to some ICP, trying to hit
those 2001 vibes.

I stopped listening to them in 2002, they went soft.

But their output from 1991-1997 was some of my favorite
music at the time. Still a pretty direct influence to me
today.

that was well after I stopped listening

and I think it was totally ripe for the mockery it got.

But that said, a pretty earnest outing from them.

Those GTA remasters get dissed bad on twitter for their
bugginess and removal of fog which makes the map look
small.

I had a prejudice against ICP from listening to Eminem back
in the day,i Will give them a chance later....

I don't think GTA 3 proper ever got a PC release (like Vice
City and San Andreas)

But yeah, basically the thing is: The mods people made were
BETTER than what this remaster has put together. So
essentially, you could play a cleaner version of Vice City
or San Andreas (but again, not 3, it was never on PC).

I'm happy to play it and get my achievements and work
towards a 100% though. I wouldn't have bothered with the
modded version myself. It hasn't crashed once in 12 hours of
play either, which was my main concern.

Dr. Dre
Pink Floyd

GTA 3 came out in the UK on PC. I remember getting it and
having to upgrade my pc's gfx card. I used to edit the text
file for the car specs to make the tank drive faster. Making
the tank go fast helped to cross the bridge that's closed
and get to the next level early.

there is an article from, approximately, 2008, where this
guy on a blog site went to a juggalo fest and it was...
well, objective, honest. i tried to find it ten years ago
and couldn't; good luck now. but yes...

what i got out of that all was kind of, like: ICP is also...
well, objective, honest. they know exactly how dumb what
they're making is, and it was the plan all along. the fans
are not exactly rocket scientists, but otherwise not bad.

that my brain is just a darn good sampler. that once i bit
into a chocolate chip cookie when i was really hungry, and,
from the back, right of my brain, i got the "hooray!" noise
from simcity 2000, from when you click lower taxes. that i
did not ask for this; i was not playing samples around in my
hed -- though - can. no, i just bit into the cookie, and
that sample went off like fireworks and made me giggle

and i can hum you the entirety of crazy frog and plastic
jesus but i can't hum a single ICP song. my brain has two
samples: [a jugglo is someone who dips his nuts in your
soup; bloop, fucking magnets; how do they work?] and even
these don't have much fidelity. i don't have the backing
tracks at all.

i guess it's kind of like "oh they're alright" then also "if
they wrote me an email and asked me to write imaginary ICP
lyrics they'd probably get at least a bit of usable material
out of that" and they seem alright so hit me up.

you are absolutely right.

from wikipedia:

the west coast hip hop vibe

the first time i ever heard limp bizkit: two classmates
start blasting "faith" in a computer lab at school and
repeatedly running at each other as hard as they could and
fall over and GET THE FUCK UP fgjklhfkjg

literally was in tears of laughter. decent first impression.
it was also cool how he rhymed "fuck" with "fuck"

i feel bad for tom green. really, i do. but i won't get into
that. instead, let's celebrate that clip: i think this is
his peak moment of genius. just, everything. the obnoxious
keyboard playing, the sausages on pulleys, the i'm being
creative
, his dad yanking the wires and stomping tom's
yamaha. this movie has another few moments, but none have
stacked up to this. i haven't had the stomach to actually
watch the whole fing. er

alright. so i listened to the first few seconds and:
"alright, this is not obviously horrid" and from there i
went out on a walk and listened to it multiple times.

and let's get this out of the way: this is a perfectly solid
track. there is nothing horrible about it. you probably
wouldn't even peg it as ICP if you weren't down with the
clown.

but then: everything this song is trying to do, i know other
songs doing better elsewhere, that, in particular ~
LAZY_TITLE ~ sorry this is better on every level

then there are clever bits. the timestrech chatterbox man;
but that'll get old fast like an adam sandler CD. then
they're bashing sugar ray and i'm giggling, then they're
referencing twisted sister and i'm thinking, "alright, i'm
not that old"

and that's kind of it. if you had nothing else in the 90s
this was probably right solid. but i'm afraid we have more
advanced technology now

still though. perfectly decent. solid. better than most crap
on the radio today, even though i know better on my hard
drive. they're alright

they're the sort of twats that look at themselves, laugh,
say, "ahaha, we're a bunch of twats." then they write a song

pass for its unpretentious honesty.

but it's not exactly going to be topping my last.fm

the reason is comedy. it was just funny to both sides,

yeah pretty fair assessment of the track. It's not even a
known song really, just a one off they released with a comic
book in the early 00's. Just that bratwurst line has really
stuck with me, whenever I make brats or hear the name Fred
Durst.

As far as Tom Green and Freddy Got Fingered... I've
rewatched this moment from Redlettermedia several
times. Cracks me the fuck up.

Eminem and ICP (and Kid Rock) all came up at the same time
in the Detroit rap scene.

From what I understand (ancient internet lore/interviews
etc) ICP got bigger first, and eminem sorta tried to use
their success a few times-- come to my show "ICP might show
up!"

But then Eminem got huge, and I think ICP was jealous. So
they made
Slim Anus. Decent parody, nothing special.

And Eminem responded
"Slim Anus"? You damn right, slim anus
I don't get fucke...

that was about it, I think. Didn't go much beyond that.

> Just that bratwurst line has really stuck with me,
whenever I make brats or hear the name Fred Durst.

...and we've fallen through a wildebeast trap back into: me
having two samples of ICP in my brain: "a juggalo is someone
who dips his nuts in your soup; bloop" and "fucking magnets;
how do they work?" and... shit, i almost had the line about
Sugar Ray too, but i lost it somewhere over the last few
hours. I did retain the bit about him sucking his drummer's
dick

...but, like before, shit, i don't have what was going on
with the backing tracks. with any of it

and after the marbles have all fallen through the pegs and
settled into binomial buckets, the secret of ICP is thus:
phrases that just stick in your head. squarepusher was a
pioneer in making things that were "catchy" but atonal, etc
and ICP just makes some darn sticky phrases. that they
probably have miles of them to accumulate. the faygo road to
fred durst

"juggalos" weren't a thing back when I was interested in
them. They were just kinda B-Grade horror comedy rap. I
think the rise of their subculture was where I personally
kind of drew the line... and the music lost it's edge
somewhere around 1999, though still a few cool tracks here
and there.

Seen them a few times at an old Venue in Omaha the Ranch
Bowl. They had hundreds of bottles of Fuego! The floors and

Then they came out a few years ago as engelical (so?) bible

I've seen em live like 10 times, they put on my favorite
show! It's really not even close, tho I've never seen aphex
live. (I imagine it's just filled with confused ravers)

ICP has always had mythology in their music from day 1,
where they're like these purgatory clowns that send you to
heaven or hell, depending on which you deserve.

Their final "joker's card" spelled it out for people who
hadn't figured it out, that they were "trying to send you to
the light." They did one album for heaven (which sucked),
and one album for hell (which was pretty bad ass, really
dark raps).

I will say they aren't at all evangelical in the traditional
American sense (think megachurches, southern baptism).
They're not even christian, I'd just call them
non-denominational metaphorical bullshit.
