a friend gifetd me Namco_Musem the other day
record plays nice and the melodies are chosen well.
but the sleeve is really rounding the whole package.
the outer sleeve is cutout so you can have the insert
booklet or inner sleeve be displayed in the outer sleeves
bezel. kinda neat and the booklet has the games artwork 12"
size aswell as composer names and year of creation. could
have been a tad more info, like the revenue of the game and
units produced, but namce probably was a little shy about
that. overall 12 out of 10 stars.

Those ae / hafler trio collabs had some decent packaging.
Skam braille always was a nice touch. NTS sessions vinyl box
set is something! Analord binder is another good one.

I think syro is maybe the worst album cover I've ever seen.
I'm not just saying that in a reactionary way

I mean the idea is fine. RDJ say in an interview that he
thought it would be funny to list out all of the costs in
making a record.

but in usual TDR fashion, there is no artistry at all (warp
unfortunately keeps coming back to these guys) . For
autechre albums, sometimes they use the square tool 4 times
and call it a cover.

It reminds me of a george costanza line in Seinfeld. "If *I*
can do it, is it art?" Niche cases to the contrary for sure,
but I agree with George.

I mean the topic was artful sleeves anyway.

We can talk about the concept, but unless TDR designed the
font (we both know they didnt) I see no art at all from
their end. Maybe some conceptual art, from RDJ himself, but
let's be real RDJ album smokes that cover every which way.

i mean i'm joking but ~ front / back
cover i did for someone else collage-ing a bunch of stock
public domain art.

LAZY_TITLE ~ art project for one of my own covers. a
part of me that doesn't exist back then is screaming and
wanting to back and adjust the color balance

but, yeah, huh, maybe someone would pay for this. probably
not warp. so i was just joking. but the best jokes have a
kernel of poop

wouldnt have guessed the reaction to syro,
sure theres no picture or great art in this one,
but the i love the conept of giving so much information,
very informative about the costs and synths and a bit
apologetic in my eyes. i like the raw paper feeling. its a
soft touch and the blank white leaves your brainwaves to
your own imagination when listening.

I was just kidding with last msg, I don't hate it THAT much.
It's all subjective anyway. It's probably simply not to my
taste. I also don't much care for the Quaristice cover,
sorta similar thing there. I have a hard time calling
something like that actually "artful" when there are so many
people capable of making art at such a high, practiced skill
level, which all other considerations aside-- practiced
skill is not really only display with the syro cover.

It's weird, I chalk it up to the first time I tried LSD 20
years ago, but there is an audio and visual to ANY sound in
my mind's eye. All sounds have a consistent abstract visual
component. Kicks are spherical, always. Snares little
rectangles. Everyday sounds like perhaps, a refrigerator
kicking on it's compressor even has a low, grey, gravelly
little image. It's all quite automatic.

Album covers, music videos, other materials associated with
the artist outside of the sound REALLY do seem to contribute
to these visuals at times, so I can appreciate what you're
saying with "leaving it to the brainwaves."
