your approach feels like a healthier one, to be sure.

For me, it's not really the social media stuff itself that's
annoying, but rather the way it's fed back into the
entertainment that I've always been *hardcore* into.

On the nerd side of things, I was never really into Star
Wars or Superhero stuff (except Batman, I read a fuckton of
that back in the day). For me it was Star Trek (all),
Tolkien, The Dark Tower, Wheel of Time, Babylon 5... I LIVED
for this kind of stuff. I never outgrew it. I was so fucking
into LOST while it was airing, would bring my notes to work
and we'd go over theories and shit every week.

Every single one of those (well except LOST, but that didnt
end so well) has had or will soon have its corpse dreged up
and assfucked by gender studies majors diversity hired into
the writers room. "Sensitivity readers" are utilized in
every studio. I don't care how alt right this sounds, it's
the truth. Wokeism manifest is some perfect melding of
bullshit corporate culture and sanctimonious leftism. This
blend creates just the worst kind of generic, smug,
predictable writing. And they never apply it to an original
peice of art... no-- it's always digging up someone elses
work (someone who had talent), and "re-envisioning it for
the modern audience."

I'm annoyed at it and I don't know how to stop being annoyed
at it. I don't give a shit about Musk himself, but from my
point of view it's a step in the right direction. I truly
don't care how I look voicing that opinion in the current
climate.

I've been watching more anime with my wife these days and
it's helping to fill the void.

gosh has it gone, like... sort of like how orthogonal is
like perpendicular, but in more dimensions at once? that's
how this has gone sideways

say, generously, that each employee costs $200k. that, when
a company hires you, you gotta realize, way more than your
salary goes out the door. so we're saying average $125-150k
salary [for fucking california... shit i'd hope so] and be
kind with the benefits, then overhead... so, yes, $200k per
person, fired 3,700 people... yes, okay, now we're only
losing $2mil per day instead of $4mil.

then, blue checks, right -- i'm just fucking with the
calculator here and i might be pulling a linda [top ten dumb
secretary name] but you need like 7.6 million reliable
monthly paid followers. then, also, when twitter says "238
monetizable users" they mean their ad spam coverage; i'm
curious about how far the gap will be. how many will
actually. pay. this. horseshit

that what makes me giggle is that if everyone rejects it,
and then no one has blue check, like, screw that shit -- the
the algorithm to prioritize them does nothing, and he's
essentially just sunk the asset for almost no gain.

what makes me fall on the floor laughing is him not even
taking a week to have a prima donna fit and streisand effect
the fallout; my name is elon musk and i am the chief twit
complaint

that i think this is also, really... he did start with town
square, humanity, but he's fucking pissed the courts forced
him to buy this shit and so let's fire all those assholes
that pushed the deal through and then shit this thing the
fuck up

but then that's repressed and he's just sabotaging himself
subconsciously

if you think about it: what if musk had actually, really,
had a genuine belly laugh at everyone changing their
verified accounts to "Elon Musk, Chief Complaint"? done
something like change his official profile to "Elon Musk
Parody Account" and... for real, the man used to have that
sense of humor about himself, but i think trump must have
raped him in a department store or something, because it
does seem thoroughly gone.

Epics, shut up, too longwinded, can you please just get
over yourself and summarize it with a succinct macro meme
image like a decent human?

that i've not bothered with twitter in... almost a year,
perhaps. that i am just offering this idea if anyone is
bored

i foresee a crappy future in which noone but pepsi and
coca-cola pay the $8, so the corporate spam accounts
dominate the feed, which, last i saw, is pretty much how it
is already.

but -- and here is the idea -- a campaign to "block anyone
who has a blue check," that someone seriously bored -- like,
deathly, seriously bored, fucking dedicated -- if someone
that bored, could whip up some momentum and make it an
actual movement, it could take down twitter. calling
mermaidman. this is your chance to be a hero

so it's like, now there's a stupid blue verified check for
all the plebs and a silver one for all the corporations, so
-- i'll remind everyone of it again -- i was suspended from
twitter for tweeting something like, "i hope whoever made
this decision dies in a fire" about a shit windows force
crap widget push, and yeah, i'm being "threatening"

so this seems exactly, complete poop; bait-and-switch: oh,
actually, we're making a new blue check that's like the old
one, pay $8 to be like all your favorite corporations and
celebrities. that the silver checks will still be able to
abuse the complaint system to stifle legitimate commentary
about legitimately crap software.
