Corporate tax havens where corporations have some sort of weird quasi governance, i think like Delta City in Robocop, people inside the zones more like clientele than citizens? sounds like some dystopian nightmare |

this sounds like "City of Industry, California, 90601" which, i'm afraid, is not anywhere near as cool as delta city. it's just a bunch of factories in a tax haven and people probably commute to work there for years without knowing it has its own zip code. i discovered this place when i was tasked with fixing a bug involving local tax rates ...but the good news is that this means it's not as much of a nightmare as you'd think, it's essentially just zoning out a pocket to bring in some companies that'd otherwise turn their nose up at the area. seems like one of those economic "tools" that can either, like, actually help perk things up, or be used to give someone's buddies a tax break. i'd just keep an eye on that part and not stress the rest |
