I watched that Woodstock 99 documentary the other day and
found it fascinating. The effects of group mentality at its
prime. Scary in many ways. I recommend it!

cup of tea but was enjoyable

Key of Geebz on My Own Summer

notice the electronics on these two tracks. more subtle on
My Own Summer. i think it's super good, on both. maybe the
change in subtleness (besides what works best for the track)
was that by the time of that second track, Change (in the
House of Flies), the guy was an actual member of the band.
in this performance of My Own Summer you can see
him in this earlier stage (i assume it's him)

Slipknot, too, has a cool sample guy and scratcher

yeah had to watch that too,
some disgusting things happened there.
some fun things too i guess,
its like a mirror to society of my youth in those years
we really were a bunch of spoiled kids and
i could have seen myself burn something down in 99.
all that stupid anger and needing someone to blame.
there are some things seriously wrong with this world,
but burning down merch & overpriced food & beverage stands
is not gonna change it.

i don't know the majority of the list, this neither (only
remembered the name) and most notably i didn't know the no.3
(i listened now and don't really like them)

there was something about "faith" by limp bizkit that
suddenly made sense after watching two of my 16yo classmates
lip sync the song while repeatedly running into each other
at full tilt; knocking shit over [now get the fuck up]

i won't accept knocking the review itself. i <3 how they can
write something positive about stuff they don't care too
much about themselves. also notice what they write about
coal chamber for instance

bizkit's niche is party music nu metal

never bothered to give a proper listen

i guess i liked the guitar best. Borland is the most is the
most Tom Morello-like of the nu-metalers

(p.s.: i never thought of Sepultura and System of a Down as
nu metal, so for me RATM could be on the list as well)

let's have a competition where all submitted tracks must be
a) primarily nu-metal samples with b) optionally some synths
and drum machines, and c) optionally optionally fx to taste

well my stance is they let on too many bands on as is. next
people will want Nirvana on it. of course genres are just a
bit dumb. my digital music collection just has a folder
'rock' for everything with guitar

yeah, in my folders the two biggest ones are guitar &
electronic, also, but with my personal genre/era subfolders
inside. havent even clicked the 50 best nu metal list, so i
dont know how precisely they were picking bands that are
classified "nu metal". im not even sure i know what it is
and what it is not.

there seem to be 50 bands at the big festivals in germany.
they cant all be at the same place.

i'd define as and/or:
bands that sound like korn
metal from a certain era (starting with korn, so '94) that
is somehow 'alternative'

On “Faget,” Davis comes as close as a presumably cis
man can to reclaiming that titular slur for his fellow
misanthropes, performing “allyship” in a world where the
term didn’t exist. Certainly, “Faget” wasn’t
intended to be ammunition for bullies - Witness Jonathan
Davis recoiling in horror upon learning “Blind” made the
tracklist of a Jock Rock compilation - but for the bullied.
“I’m just a pretty boy whatever you call it, you
wouldn’t know a real man if you saw it,” Davis seethes
during the bridge, “It keeps going on day after day son,
you’re fake and don’t want none.” Finally he
weaponizes his own sexual confusion, “You can suck my dick
and fucking like it.” It’s an incredibly potent, moving,
fucking devastating explosion that takes on more dimension
when another, just as massive, bridge comes barreling
through on a single refrain, “All my life who am I?”
There’s nothing clean about “Faget.” It doesn’t work
in any 2022 sense, but as a song from 1994 it’s a
loud-quiet-loud revolution.
