this 'breadtuber' says that if you like the fascist movie 300, you're a fascist, and you should repend or be canceled, like Zack Snyder should be. here

to be fair I don't really know many, I'm sure there are some very good ones, just the ones I've seen tend to not be up my street. I don't think i've seen many programs or films i've liked over the past 20 years to be honest but I wouldn't listen to me I'm quite jaded and cynical

i'm wondering what mermaidman thinks of the scene in gladiator (2000) where they're all naked, and how 300 compares. i will cite the actual documented history of the spartans

sparta openly sanctioned gay lovers serving together because they believed they'd get better results on the battlefield. something for everyone to dislike here really. but i have no idea if this has any bearing on the movie 300
because that movie was boring poop i watched it once while drinking heavily, and even that was not enough to have me consider watching it again. i did always mean to watch "meet the spartans," however

does anyone care what a youtuber says? i know i know, sadly the answer is yes.
anyway, i feel popular movies (especially comic adaptations, anti heroes / super heroes) glorify and justify violence to no end. with all due respect to grey area characters and clever story writing or how much the hero struggles with killing another, it is, what it is. bottom line is always the total annihilation of the other side aka evil wrongdoers.
how could this not be authorian?
or in the case of the 300 of sparta dieing gloriously in a a cadaver gehorsam elite volkssturm. now these are harsh words for all i know xerxes was the terrible and wrongful invader, but the antics are still kind of reminiscent.
honestly, when 300 came out i think it was great at what it is. a gorgeuosly filmed epic fighting tale, but also essentially a war movie and i enjoyed watching the skillful slaughter that looked like a painting come alive.
apart from 300, to me frank miller has embraced and sometimes openly portrayed the bad side of being the vigilante. they are not nice, but they do what has to be done and his heroes are kind of monsters themselves.
think of that what you want. is it justification or is it just showing what its like to oppose violence on to others.
anyway, while i think there are less and less rightwing undertones in those kind of movies and they are more and more directed to a nerdy, woke, diverse or lefty audience today its basically still the same outcome. it wouldnt have made a difference if we had the biggest slomo gay orgy with fake jizz back in 300 although that may be just a sight :)

How Wikipedia Got Ex Machina (2014) Wrong, by Shaun (king of breadtube)
Annihilation and Decoding Metaphor, co-king of Breadtube.
after watching these both i'm wondering whether the two movies are even scifi, or just both convoluted metaphors for what women endure
The Church Play Cinematic Universe, by Jenny Nicholson, queen of breadtube adjacent content
