so after being knocked by asshole kids with pressure
cookers, pandemic, the boston marathon is officially back
today. starts in less than an hour. that i remember, during
the bombing, that i was actually kind of liveblogging that
on here. i lived close enough to boston, and i had a police
scanner, and... but now, yeah, i live like a ten minute walk
away from the marathon route itself.

day or two ago i was sleep interruptus on my vacation as
low-flying helicopters repeatedly buzz the neighborhood as a
practice run. i thought: oh, marathon about to happen. i
checked the news that day to be sure, but... no, it has to
be that. combined with porta-potties mysteriously appearing
on a traffic island one day. has to be. and obviously a bit
of a nervous atmosphere

but i went on a walk/jog just now, as much of a jog as i
could manage, and, actually, nothing but good vibes out
there. people around here usually drive like their balls are
in a vice, but they're chill. some streets are cordoned off.
a cop is directing traffic at one of them. i slow down to a
walk, and ask, excuse me, can i walk along the corner of 135
up there? and he replies, in 112% boston accent: "yeah,
sure, man, absolutely"

and i resumed running, and thought: why did i even do that?
of course i can walk there

but then i realize i felt it would have been rude to run by
him with no hello on a day like today and what nicer thing
can you do for a cop than stop and ask very obvious
directions as a hello, take up 3 seconds of his time, he's
busy directing traffic

so i really pray nothing happens, because this is p. chill.
almost rave-like

i was listening to "electrosuite" by vector lovers, just
restarting the track whenever it ended whole time

alright, less good. that i was in a foul mood for a bit
start of the year; gave up on quitting zigs out of spite.
smoked quite a few. calmed down since and now more or less,
like, still smoke, but it's pretty moderate.

and i have not been out for one since i last posted and i
was just going to bang around the block and... there are a
freaking million cars parked everywhere. parking situation
so overloaded people walking ten mins from my house just to
watch.

whatever, park. but you are also unloading approximately 2^4
baby strollers and giving me the stink eye for, like, i walk
around the block around like this for a zig and no problem
never, and now you're here, and you do not live here?

right as i am thinking this, even then, the vibes come to my
rescue. a silver jeep is coming down the road. there is so
much going on, gosh. and i think: i am pretty sure this car
actually lives here. that a woman is driving. that i could
analyze where this came from, but it would be a boring post,
so i won't. but i step into a crevice amidst the chaos, keep
breathing terrible zig fumes in their range for a moment,
and i feel gratitude as the jeep realizes i'm aware that
they're fucking irritated with this shit too and i've
decided to get out of their way because christ what can you
do with this crap

and it promptly parks in a driveway 100ft away. fist bump

and for real, park all over the street. i can hear car doors
slamming and key fobs beeping and all that, and it's cool.
but do not give me shit for how i normally do when you're
only just here for today plz

that honestly i'll just hang off as much as i can and hide
and let them have it. but i haven't issued a rant on here in
a good bit so
