question is what is normal? and is normal good? when i was a kid normal was having both parents in your life, married, nearly everyone was white, but we followed police academy rules (be good to blacks). gays were seen as fruity and weird and had no rights, was seen as something done in the toilets by nutters and pervs. nowadays the rules for being normal have changed. I think we are going through a turbulent transitional period socially/culturally especially cos the advent of global communication, its very torrid times. i'll rearrange all the gear every few months -- like, try a new arrangement, stick with it for months, then one day i kind of start picking at the edge and pretty soon everything's taken apart and i've done this so many dozens of times that it does get quasi autistic. i will coil each cable as i disconnect it and then put it on the floor in the corner... but neatly coiled, not on any others. then i sort them into categories. then there are approximately 2^5 cables coiled in neat loops on the floor, tetris stacks for different categories, and then i'd giggle and say "the people that think i'm autistic would think this is a riot" and snap a photo then i'd take out the actual gear, vacuum all the areas i could never get to. other cleaning. then a smoke, a break. then place the gear back in the proposed new configuration. sit down, see if my arms reach, or if this or that is in the way. nudge things a bit. maybe totally even re-do my plan. eventually, alright, that's what i want next few months. then i un-tetris all the cables, one by one, plug them back in. or stow them away but yes i took lots of photos of that; people seemed amused. if that's what you meant |
