i like the mega drive sonic 2, been playing it recently

sonic 2 on the master system has easy levels but rock hard
bosses. it's not as fun to play. also no map between
levels.

also i lent bubble bobble on master system to someone in
school after nagging him to swap games to borrow, then he
lost it, actually i think he threw it in the bin because i
nagged him every day about it like an autistic would. my mum
rang the school and got his number then rang his mother, he
turned up to school with a copy of sonic 2 with pen on it
and no cover on the case lol. so i lost my bubble bobble
game which was a pretty cool game. my fault for being a twat
to him. i later got in a fight with him over nothing, i
started provoking him and he got me in a headlock and choked
me.

i sold my master system 2 in 2012 for 20 quid with loads of
games, but i still have that copy of sonic 2 with the pen on
it lol.

had mario and sonic as a kid but always preferred mario
(specifically mario 3 and super mario world on snes)

cuz sonic wants you to go omega fast, but punishes you for
going omega fast. you could try and memorize the levels but
you'd have to start over at the beginning before you'd
mastered the pitfalls. it was a much harder game for a 7 or
8 year old.

sonic 1 has the best music of any game ever, except for mb
monkey island 2 though.

around the time i started high school i got a snes from free
ads, it came with super mario all stars (no super mario
world included on that version) and a bunch of cool games.
when we bought it off the man, my dad gave me the cash to
give to the man but he went to the toilet or something for a
minute so i gave the money to the man's girlfriend. he was a
little bit flustered that i gave her the money instead of
him. cant remember exactly but it wasnt a good idea to give
her the money lol. we had the snes anyway. great console.

I don't think the master system ever had much popularity
here. The cool kid houses (not mine) had NES with mario and
duck hunt from like 84-90. Paperboy and bubblebobble if they
were spoiled.

Listening to it now, I don't like the master system music as
much, but there's no accounting for nostalgia really.
Definitely comes alive more in the 16 bit genesis ver.

Dont you know umbro you never give console money to a ho'.
first rule of the streets

>Dont you know umbro you never give console money to a ho'.

first rule of the streets

for sure!!

the first master system had an fm chip, the second one didnt
so there's not much good music for it. but the gameplay of
sonic 1 is awesome i think.

i was like 8 when i had a sega master system 2, all the cool
kids had them. i looked down on the nes at the time because
my friend at the time joao said only poor families had a
nes. that was an incredibly shit thing to say actually!!!
and i was a little shit for agreeing.

i could have got a mega drive at the time, but my mum said i
could have more games if i got a master system, and the
master system had a light gun with operation wolf and built
in alex kidd in miracle world. the mega drive games cost a
bomb at the time.

i never had a sonic game on the master sys, only had it a
short while before getting a mega drive. i remember the
sonic games always had a badman soundtrack, catchy as fuck
(they get a lot of play on the mental stereo (or youtube))

oh everything trying to keep sonic on as a mascot is
sooo last century dahling. console wars, funny. mega
drive 1, 2, 3 & knuckles are essential tho, well-designed
chunky leap and bop, collect x to save y, cannae be beat

my problem with sonic 2 and 3 and knuckles is you have to do
those annoying stages to get the emeralds, on sonic 1 on the
master system you find them by exploring the maps, much more
fun!!

i remember playing md sonic 1 at a school féte, think it

machines, had never held a pad before

exactly why i wasnt able to get into it. when i was a kid no
one had sega apart from a game gear i once saw, which was
like the holy grail. love the style and music though. maybe
next time around ill give the master system 1 version a
shot.

There are games that were more popular in Europe on the
Amiga that had some of the best soundtracks I reckon, like
Turrican 2 for example:

LAZY_TITLE

i don't think i've ever even heard the master system music
for the sonics. dunno all the ins and outs of production but
the master system was always going to be playing catchup.
music felt very bespoke for each act/zone in md sonic, was
it the same on the older console?

The mega drive has FM and a three square wave generator with
noise
The master system usually doesn't have fm.

FM synthesis is too cool for school, just like sonic
