i don't like the first a lot, hard to go through for me,
especially the second beat
i think your beats projects deserve a bit more effort

the second was easier to go through and softer to the ears
for a morning, you can hear a more professional approach
(more familiar software?), even if it sounds a bit to much
computer-ish overall

the third is my favourite :)

1. First half: Starts out nice, I'm enjoying your low fi
reggea--whatever funk. Maybe goes on a bit too long without
enough variation though. Second half swims a bit too much in
the lows, the frequencies eventually become stale.

2. Like the drums. Bass itself is straight up too loud and
repetitive. You wanna repeat the same loud bar for this long
you *must* spice it up somehow and that's a straight up
rule. Break it only if your name is Richard D. James.
Noodles at 1:28 QUITE nice. You're funky, buddy. Nice job
there. Some nice melody in the 2nd half, but overall goes on
a bit too long and has too repetitive of a backbone.

3. Fun chiptune style put a smile on my face. The second bit
brings back some of that fun reggae and has a nice melody,
but again kinda lacks in variation. I mean I hear you
dropping out the high end and turning on the delay but it
gets a bit old hat over the course of the track.

The variety that I would want from these kinds of melodies
is extremely difficult to execute without years of practice
wrangling melody. Overall I think you did a good job making
something more basic.

hey thanks for listening.

yeah first track samples george benson's "give me the night"
exclusively. my aim was to make something like a cd skipping
but keeping a groove. it gets more fucked up as it goes and
kinda clashes but not. which i really like, something that
is about to collapse but doesnt is very satisfying to me, as
in football (soccer) dribble. nice to know you listen some
reggae in this one as in the intro i remember felling quite
dubby deeping the snare snippets in reverb, but then never
thought of the track like that ever again as i felt quite
footworky splicing the little chords over the middle
section. its all beat juggling really.

of course the second track is bass heavy mate, its called
bonus beats!
its quite clashing because of polyrythms but still keeps a
beat, me thinks.

first track on the second link is meant to be a little
cheesy i guess its acid house about riding my bike in the
streets at night, the second one its a lot of melodies
trying to work together.

the chiptune thing from the last link is the one im most
proud of harmonically. it modulates to the tritone in quite
a smooth way (from a secondary dominant) and the melodies
arrive to their chord notes in not obvious ways. the second
one is just a dance hall acid beat, I meant to sing over it
like scracth lee perry but i dont have a microphone atm (if
anyone wants to spit over it you are more than walcome).

all the tracks were made in reason, the acid track samples
stuff i did in garageband. the variation in the music are
subtle, basically you are never listening to the same thing
twice, but I get what wolfstice means, the tracks dont
change abruptly, but im really happy with the way they do
change and how that works for me structurally, yeah.

thanks a lot for your feedback and for taking the time to
take a listen to my stuff

cheers

A lot of what you say comes through in the tracks.

There are good bits, and overly repetitive bits for sure.

Keep at it. Natural talent doesn't mean shit, it's all
practice and mastery.

Mo' don't like my melodies much either. Now I have this
desire to get good enough at melody to make Mohamed cry. You
can either shut down and be like "I guess I suck," or flip
it like "I'm gonna show these cunts." ;p

happy new year

thanks a lot for listening! that rrgae beat at the end its
like a 12 bar minor blues form i think (i iv, i iv v [c
minor]) might record some synth solos over it when i get my
moog back.

thanks again for taking a listen

oh basically becuase i don't understand a shit of music
theory, i barely reached some kind of reggae rhythm (with
percussive elements) while going through the tracks, but
time will come for that as well
