it is the place of the sort of person you see flogging high-end audiophile stuff to obscenely rich peoples. ears only go so far; at a certain point noone can tell the difference. at that point, a sale more depends on someone's perception. so you wind up with guys that are kind of like Magic Alex was to the Beatles; snake oil salesmen essentially. But there's a wrinkle you can see how someone who consumes massive amounts of stimulants might actually come to genuinely believe what they're saying... and, go figure, this makes you very successful at selling your insane nonsense to rich people -- because you've even convinced yourself. man claims to have built the world's largest subwoofer and he might actually not be wrong; i've certainly not seen bigger. it's a level of obsessive i respect, and also beautiful in and of itself. i really hope it's not all a hoax. so, if this is for real, some genuine talent to build something impressive, further powering his success with rich clients, right but then he's talking about quantum mechanics and how he has a quantum accelerator in this box here for audio fidelity -- that page is tame compared to some; browse about! then, inventively, the momentum carries them over the edge. a howard hughes development, or, no -- in this case, insane christianity. to wit, a few years back, he deleted his whole website; replaced it with a doomsday prophecy about how Jesus was coming back, with a specific date. the date came and went. i was hoping he'd put his old website back. i loved it. but no i think he's done if it was all a hoax; kudos to sculpting the arc. even the ending is good |
