How do people rate these two squarepusher albums? I have
hardly (if ever) heard these mentioned on the mb.

i think stereotype is the one with "whooshki"? if it is,that
is a breathtaking piece of work...it sounds really
afx-ish,not really a bad thing...

maximum priest,in my opinion, has only one or two good tracks
on it,the vibert mix,and the ae mix...first album i bought
from squarepusher, and i was very disappointed
luckily i found go plastic after that :)

i've got the maximum priest album cover on my wall.. I used
to liten to 'my underwater torch' exclusively, but then I
fell asleep with it playing the other day and woke up to
some of the later tracks, and they're quite tasty too.

some of them sound like 'go plastic' only less spastic.

listening to aphex twin - ventolin (cylob mix) now. cylob is
god.

go plastic is a total mindfuck. greenways trajectory makes
my head explode..

Stereotype i've had for a long time and have become quite
familiar w/ it. its a decent piece to have. side A i don't
really like all that much. "Whooshki" is ok and has a very
Sqp melody to it but goes on for way to long. reminds me of
"A Journey to Reedham" in a way also holding the same
position on the record as that track would. "1994" is the
worst track on there. side B is more refreshing. "O Brian"
is nice. i'd have to say that "Greenwidth" and "Falling" are
the best tracks w/ "Falling" growing into the best spot. "O
Brian (darkness)" is like a shorter recap of the original w/
a little different mood to it. many people would perfer this
EP to the Crot EP which is just really old prosthetic
sounding hardcore 4 on the floor stuff. and interesting
debut w/ no bass guitar whatsoever.

I think maximum priest is the wickedest squarepusher album
in terms of sound quality. I probably like it as a tie with
feed me weird things and big loada, but the latter two are
different- more focused on complex percussion placement, not
as focused on making the sounds themselves interesting. It's
sort of like maximum priest is analogue and the others are
digital. Plus I think he had a bit of aphex's weirdness in
him with maximum priest, doing some totally weird things
like saying bizarre disturbing things in nonsense lyrics.

and some of the melodies in max are bizarre and striking,
quite good and aphexy weird, better than other albums by
him.
