Coming off a 12 hour graveyard shift (6:30pm to 6:30am), and kicking off a 4 day weekend, I decided that this wanna gonna be a night (well, morning) for a few tokes of DMT. I self extracted a decent amount from mimosa hostilis-- standard straight to base tek-- and have been going through it slowly.
Now, I don't really have a smoking technique down for my glass vapor genie yet. I loaded the pipe with a carefully weighed 50mg of spice, and noticed that I probably had about that much also solidified along the inner sides from prior uses. I think I need one of those liquid pads to stop this. I just have a bit of wire mesh I put in there underneath the chamber.
I took in and held 3 decent tokes, which has always been enough previously. I felt the physical intensity, the warping of space and time... but there were virtually no visuals to speak of. This hasn't happened to me before. "What a dud!".. and on the heels of that, a strange thought: "Did I do something to offend these things?" I gave it a few minutes and decided to take a few more rips, assuming that the stuff that had previously melted to the sides MIGHT vaporize even though that residue was much lower in the pipe than the chamber itself. I didn't think I'd get much out of it, since it had already been maybe 10 minutes and I know you've gotta get this stuff in quickly.
Well, it worked. I got more out of it. On the third or fourth hit of round 2, my eyes were unable to focus on any one object in the room. My room was dark, but the first cold blue light of dawn was starting to come in through my blinds. It spread across my desk in an odd pattern. My unfocused eyes all of a sudden locked in, like solving one of those "Magic Eye posters" and the pattern of light became a tesseract superstructure.

This thing was a monstrosity. It dominated the room, which was otherwise normal except for this area of light. Its shape, its contours were impossible. It was beyond 3 dimensions, with the 4th dimension penetrating directly into my conscious and completely alert mind. It was SO fundamentally psychedelic, this thing. And it was perfectly still, unmoving. There were no signs that I was tripping other than this lightborne object which remained solid, unwavering for probably a full minute.
The structure had a menace to it, and it was alive. I think most people with sensibilities a little bit less dark than mine would have been frightened, but I was just amazed at it. I was amazed at its perfect stillness, amazed at the way it effortlessly broke the laws of physics.
Suddenly it had something to say. With words? I don't know. It was loud though, and perfectly understood.
This IS reality, it bellowed.
THIS IS......
THE DVIORVMENPAETL! (duh-vy-orv-min-pay-tal. I wrote it down immediately after the experience. this is not a word that I would ever come up with consciously. I will state, as adamantly as I can, that I DID NOT come up with this word. It was simply present).

What an introduction it gave itself. The name echoed through my head. It shattered reality. On cue, I closed my earthly eyes. And centered in my mind's eye, in the middle of a psychedelic vortex, was some kind of cyclopean squid Mr. Potato head. It had tentacles. One eye. It was possibly wearing a wizard's hat.
And it was friendly. I felt it welcome me, it wanted to show me its space. A wave of sheer bliss washed over me as I shot into hyperspace. Its habitat was some kind of spiral funhouse, but it was also somehow an essential place of healing and warmth. It's all a bit vague from here. I was moving through it too fast, and it was over quickly. I don't think there are words to adequately describe it anyway.
Just before it dissipated, I expressed my gratitude to the THE DVIORVMENPAETL for showing me its home. For the next 10 minutes I reflected on the experience... no visuals but a sense of the universe expanding while I was shrinking. And then I was back to normal.

DMT has a couple of interesting hallmarks-
1. it's over super duper quick. full blast to full down in about 20 minutes. It's hard to retain some of the fine details but easier than the peak of LSD or psilocybin
2. I tend to remain myself for the duration of the experience. As in I don't actually feel fucked up at all, like even less so than a few drinks. it's just this thing that's happening and then its over.
I've heard of people losing their self of self though so this might not be the case for everyone.
Like a jurassic park dinosaur I had most of the genetic material, but filled in the rest of the pieces with frog dna
But yeah it was 5 stars, will do again.
