both released on the same day in 1999 ill leave it up to you to compare and contrast both total fucking trendsetting tunes, still sound completely fresh today
tune and video for one is really simple, other is lavishly produced
etc. (suprised there isn't a pitchfork or something article about this, although i haven't actually looked)

gotta say it is... im easy to catch with overdriven bass as in track 4 5 doesnt get me at all, 8 & 10, 12-15 are all great sounding stuff
1999 wasnt bad at all i wonder why i didnt listen to this album at a store back then.
or none of the affiliates ran this

what are those tracks bpm's ? chance for some sexy mashup ? anyone ?
my good ol' trusty bpm analyzer says "windowlicker" is 123.06 bpm and "flat beat" is 129.05 bpm
quite mashable, aye ?

>>> nice anecdote we all met at the Kwik save and bought a bunch of carling and caught the 26 bus to the city, my friend Jason bought Flat Beat and I bought windowlicker, I thought for some reason he also bought New Radicals "you get what you give" but that was out in '98, so maybe he did or mbe im remembering another tune... we all went to watch the local team play football and smoked spliffs in the stands. When I came home I had an OOBE experience whilst listening to the Orb on headphones in bed. It was a good day.

its a wonderful thing, that music enables us to have these moments and also helps a great deal to carry the memory of it along for such a long time.
one day we hung out at a friends first flat in the summer, we all had days off or weekend dunno, and one of my friends brought the ctd cd. the stereo was loud and after a blaring ctd, when flim came on as track 2 it put a spell on me. pure bliss. i hadnt heard anything like it and it just seemed so effortless and perfect, the melody like walking on clouds, catchy but evolving and the drumworks along with its ever permutating breaks. we had to play it over again and again lying on the floor. then tried to figure out bouncing balls, arguing whether it is music or just randomness, just to play flim again after.
