spend a good hour on videos.

"Kiss Me Neck, a book that lists Perry’s entire recording
output through the early 2000s, runs over 300 pages."

thats just riduculous.

Was reading that article about how he bounced down tracks
and got tape saturation effect was quite interesting,
definitely an originator like king tubby

I always thought the thing about him putting a duck pond in
the bottom of the drum booth was actually a very imaginative
attempt at getting something like a physical Roland Space
Echo (which I think Tubby had, but he never did...?)

"I see the studio must be like a living thing, a life
itself. The machine must be live and intelligent. Then I put
my mind into the machine and the machine perform reality.
Invisible thought waves - you put them into the machine by
sending them through the controls and the knobs or you jack
it into the jack panel. The jack panel is the brain itself,
so you got to patch up the brain and make the brain a living
man, that the brain can take what you sending into it and
live." Lee Perry, 1972

i like the idea of using the mixer as an instrument in and
of itself

can't believe how good that roland space echo sounds, im not
overly keen on deep house chords thing but could be used on
something great

RIP. I just heard about this today. He was my youth
favourite artist alongside Aphex Twin and maybe some others.
I liked his black ark roots reggae stuff the most havent
listened much to his 80s 90s 20s music. I remember this
crazy interview he did with swedish radio i really dig that.
People interviewers said like he was from another universe.

Also while on it i think there was no rip threads for Scott
Walker, Talk Talk singer Mark Hollis so RIP. Also rip to MF
Doom. And why not rip to Michael Kenneth Williams actor in
The Wire.

>> step filter
i reckon Tubby's had a quantise thing on it... quite
distinctive, he may have modded it.

i've not heard that steppy highpass on any other dub apart
from Tubby's..?
and the line of thinking may have been that it would make it
like tracking a keyboard
