for years i have written sanity chex into my code, and now i'm told i can't write sanity chex. i have to write safety chex, or validation chex, because apparently calling them sanity chex is insulting to insane people. you know, like the insane people who take this shit just a liiiitle too far. we're not supposed to say master/slave these days, well, can kinda see that, but... this has nothing to do with people? or race? it's just an abstract concept? and we're just doing this because people are hypersensitive that Black Lives Matter? and fine, but stop already, leave me my sanity chex |

the worst is when someone declares a phrasing insensitive and they don't provide a suitable replacement. sometimes, it's not easy to replace the phrasing. anything anyone can come up with is either a) not really clear in a descriptive sense, b) much longer uglier more annoying to type etc etc other times, it's too easy -- there are too many possible alternatives. then, you wind up with people using six different word schemas across the code whereas they formerly used one all together and tower of babel, you guys? i know you got towers of hanoi down pat but read up on that babel tower |
