yeah i dont see why no bandcamp
costs you nothing,
costs the downloader nothing if you choose so
and its possible to spread the music to random people
or friends of friends
upload is fast and bandcamp automatically generates
multiple formats to download

if you just want to share to certain people,
use a filehoster, soulseek or a ftp server
if you have some webspace,
or use bandcamps private feature and send download invites
per e-mail

Is the point to get the music across, or is it purely
platform related?

Write your music down, put it in a bottle and throw it in
the sea

is bandcamp good for releasing projects then i.e. you get an
artist homepage/directory leading to different material
instead of all audio files lumped together like soundcloud?
i ignored bandcamp because i thought it was more for
independent musicians putting out "polished" music and that
the emphasis was in uploading albums & projects over single
tracks

i really want the directory based thing to organize my
releases and so i feel more compelled to put out complete
eps/lps instead of just uploading a track here and there

there is no law saying you cant use it the way you describe
i see single tracks or in twos all the time
and not only for promotion.
plus you can edit releases,

if you want to continiuosly add random tracks,
just name it selection x and keep em coming
you could write a little info if youre worried people
misunderstand it as a release gone wrong.

you still get all the stats what people played similar to
soundcloud
plus you can stream your own music wherever you want if
thats your thing
