LAZY_TITLE
Smoke from wildfires raging on the west coast made its way to Massachusetts on Monday, casting a thick haze over parts of the state and prompting officials to warn of potentially “unhealthy” air quality.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection said in a tweet that plumes of smoke from the fires is “again causing fine particle levels to elevate into Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range today in all MA counties except Plymouth, Bristol & the Cape & Islands.”
i stepped out onto my porch this morning, and was squinting, like... the colors over there are abnormally desaturated? is that exhaust because the train went by? is it the humidity?
walking, walking, do lots of walking, and, that same desaturation is all over. no, this is freaking smog. smog the heck?
and then i think: fuck, did this blow over from california?
it seemed quite a leap when it occurred to me, but, go figure, i'd actually nailed it.
reminds me of when someone from some high school around here captured a cloud of radioactive crap floating in a few days after chernobyl melted down
california, quit smoking trees. plz

anyways, i'd have figured it'd be a bigger story that wildfires 3000 miles away are blanketing where i live in smog, but, go figure, donald trump has a new pimple or something and there goes all the bandwidth

not many will understand, but cigarettes have gotten me into fantastic shape.
one mile of walking per cigarette. no walk, no cigarette. i have a 1.1 mile loop and thus have gradually built up multiple packs of freebies -- i had two outside a bar the other night, but generally, even if i don't do the full loop, i'm walking at least a half mile for that zig
and this is the secret: if it's 95 degrees and humid, i am going out for a walk. if it's pouring rain, i am going out for a walk
that there was a moment when it's a hol weekend and everyone's gone and i really, actually, could, for once, get away with smoking one on the back porch. and i just thought: no, i actually want the walk too
but some days weather is miserable and i'd sit on my ass instead of walk three mile.
on the zig end, my feet will be destroyed before i start smoking more than a couple a day.
but going outside, fumes from 3000 miles away, was not in my schema

getting out is one of the most essential yet most forgotten arts of living
screens are just so accessible.
the other day a hazardous waste incinerator blew up 50km from here (in leverkusen). toxic smoke threatening a whole city. i hope theres no dioxin in this. its nasty shit.
all the mess we make eventually blows up right under our noses.
im glad we will shut down our last remaining 6 nuclear plants by the end of 2022. 3 of em by the end of 2021. i will celebrate this and cant wait to finally see it happen.

The sole reason I don't want government controlled heath care is because the government would eventually start to regulate health (as in smoking, sugar bans etc). I'd take it if it could be guaranteed they wouldn't do that, but the political left most assuredly would.
When they started taxing the shit outta a pack of smokes, I started buying them from an Indian reservation tax free. I'll decide when to quit, not gonna let the US government make that choice for me.
I live in california but I'm hoping to go somewhere, anywhere else in a couple of years. The politicians in this state have become distressingly authoritarian.

gub'noir gruesome up for rebuke. dis[place your bets
i do admit a personal streak on this very topic. my current place of residence, very no smoking. i'd go out for a drive; i love driving. great times. then my car die
so january, dying, i sneak a zig during a snowstorm at 11pm and there's a lamp coming on shit shit fuck this this is not worth it.
and i quit for, like, four months.
then i decide to deliberately get myself hooked again, with the condition: no walk, no zig. 1 mile per zig target average; 1.1 mile standard walk. numerous subwalks at a 0.3 min. at this rate, i will destroy my feet before i smoke too many zigs. instead, starting to jog a bit. my goal, to jog the whole 1.1 mile, including smoking a zig while jogging a few blox

have you ever walked past someone jogging? because, despite walking, you're going faster? part of it is that getting old seems like complete shit, as thus far i have experienced, but also, like... hey, you're just milking it. actually exercise you twat

lol no, i havent, but i could see it happening ^^ well the point of jogging is, for most people, cardio training. i heard you have to run or jog rather slow to keep the right heart rate. so for some people that would result into a veeery slow jog-trot, looking rather dim but actually doing it right.

thats being against it for all the wrong reasons. i dont see the govs making sugar product prices increase as much as they did on tobacco and they were funding wars on tobacco taxes before they increase them to fund health care too. oh well arguing that way better not have any taxes after all.
what i was going to say is, afaik the plan is to kill the advertising and aggressive marketing for sweets and limos, and even if they put extra tax on sugar products, you could easily afford them cause the ingredients are just dirt cheap. from what ive seen in a few documentaries by now, its just gotten completely out of hands in the u.s. to a point where communities exist where its cheaper to buy a coke than drinking water. coca cola owns the ground water rights in many areas etc.. something is wrong there isnt it? it feels like being one step away from the movie idiocracy where they water their fields with sprite and ask: "drink water? like... out of the toilet?"
