How to Install Beta Firmware on Your AirPods Pro (and
Why You Should)

the idea of installing a firmware update on your cans should
trigger some sort of conniption, imho, if you are with a
clue.

when lockdown hit and i was working at home, and the jerk
religious place next door decided to set up a screaming kid
playground outside my window, i purchased the sony
WH-1000XM3 cans, current at the time. of course the XM4,
here it is, two months after i shell out

but lots of mileage. it drowned out the screaming kids, and
then i move away from the screaming kids, and i'm using them
on walks, lots and lots of walks.

but it's hot. and then it starts raining a lot. and i'm
nervously wiping them like mopping a brow to see if they're
getting too wet. and then i just wear a raincoat and the
hood starts changing tracks; doodling on the touch control
surface it sports. that at a certain point, it's just
change, pause, ch- pau- stop --- play -- skipsdfgkdjfkg for
a few minutes straight, and i am literally cussing aloud in
the middle of the street, by myself. thankfully quite alone
tho

and it's time to get the earbuds.

and they're pretty good on many levels. they just try to do
too freaking much for you. to wit, there is no way, as far
as i know, to shut them off, other than shoving them into
their little charging capsule. if you take an earbud out, it
will pause the music, but this feature winds up being quite
shit as it'll accidentally trigger. that, since they're
independent bobs, there's some sort of networking to be had,
and one will randomly cut out and you have to rebluetoof

and if i wrote sony they'd just tell me: yeah, apply this
dicey software update that may brick your earbuds

technology good now but do kind of miss a mere, reliable
wire

same thing happened to me man. Bought those xm3s and then
shortly after the xm4s come out for exactly the same price.

Still happy with 'em though. They sounds good. I heard they
made pairing simpler with the xm4s - sounds like that's
about the only real upgrade there.

I never take mine outside (rarely myself for that matter).

grats on the earbuds. My ears are sensitive and generally
hate being touched on the ear (take note ladies, nibble
elsewhere) - never mind sticking little things in the hole.

You can turn that touch pad off on the Sonys - but ive
learnt it's better to keep them on - because for some reason
the volume can't change when u do that(even on the external
source). Could be doing something wrong.

Anywayy

Have a good Saturday epic. Try to clear your head a little.
Try not to overthink things. Go get an ice-cream - enjoy the
sound of trees swaying in teh wind or something.

am 112% yolo here; will let rain thoroughly mist the XM3
cans; just wipe them off a bit here and there whatever man

for real, i want the science on this -- they are
simultaneously worse for noise cancellation than the giant
earmuff XM3, and also worse on the tinnitus

some of that makes sense. earmuffs, rite, rite -- but
there's something a bit harsher about plugging up the entire
airsream like gruetoof earplods

yes, you've the same thing from another angle: they've
designed to work way XYZ, and you're trying to swim up a
waterfall better to just shut it off if you don't want to do
it that way

i have sony MDR-V6, really ground zero for one of my few
brand allegiances -- i like sony cans. that pair of MDR-V6,
at least twenty (y)ears. i really need to order replacement
earpads. they still sound great and if i'm ever stressing on
EQ this or that i can dig them out and be sure
source). Could be doing something wrong.
