so! there is a multi-million this or that and someone's
been tasked with, well... not designing the building, or
even rendering it, but trying to somehow communicate the
warm happy interactions people will have in this proposed
structure. the result is reliably like a bad parody of the
matrix: the same stock person copy/pasted a few times
throughout. gathers of people that, when you look, are
actually not gatherings. someone's just carefully clustered
them in photoshop so they look like they're interacting.

and i found a corker just now ~ LAZY_TITLE

note the shaved-hed man wheeling the empty green-wheeled
babby carriage in the middle-right. no babby in sight.
corner of your eye, you'd think he's chatting with black man
and dark-hair woman, but if you look, none of them are
actually looking at each other. what sort of place are they
proposing that men wheel around empty babby carriage, alone,
no one making eye contact. but pretending to cluster

then i notice the overly-gaudy application of the flock of
birds in the upper right

i guess my point is i find this image to be hilarious and i
wanted to share. i'll let you find the rest of the gold in
there yourself

i guess, you can give norman rockwell all the shit you
want... but if they'd hired him to do that image, he would
have been thorough. the two things i never realized
about him until recently were:

1) he would scour the ends of the earth for the right props.
when he found a good model, he'd photo them and build up his
library. then it was kind of like composing with a sampler:
i'll drop this model over here, that one over there, in this
scenario. but not casually -- a multi-step process. planning
it out with sketches, a test painting at small scale...

2) It’s jarring to hear him speak in old TV interviews,
to reconcile that chinless, David Souter–ish face with the
gravelly voice that declares, “I was born on
a-Hundred-and-Thoid and Amsterdam Avenue.”
