today it crested 100 degrees fahrenheit (degree 38.C
according to the internet) and the humidity thing on the
internet was simply "yes" -- as in, yeah, there's no
reading, it's just all of it, have a nice day.

since being vaccinated, the lifting of mask mandates, etc. i
can finally start walking again. there is the issue of
neurotic people and this strange waltz where sometimes even
i twitch just so and it triggers them to cross the street.
it is kind of surreal

anyways, yeah, walks. i've been doing like four, six miles a
day. not all at once; just generally in 1mi installments.
because, fuck, it's 95 degrees and humid as all fuck

i am on one of these walks sunday or so, and i see a Large
Thing and a sign that says Free.

someone put effort into this sign. full-size neon green
poster board; the word FREE thoroughly done. i gravitate
inwards for a closer look: it is a Gym Equipment Thing.
FREE

"nothing is free" i think, as i pick up the Gym Equipment
Thing and begin to carry it home. get lots of odd looks.
just taking my gym equipment for a walk, ma'am.

my arms were limp-y for like a good 36 hours after that;
fucker must weigh at least 60lb

i'd kept saying to myself, "oh, now that restrictions are
lifting i should score some karen's treadmill for <l$$ now
that she can go to the gym again off craigslist."

but now -- with zero social interaction and/or $$ required
-- here is... i dunno, something. in the donor driveway, i'd
fussed with it a bit, and determined: a) this is not
jacked/broken/fucked/filthy/moldy b) this seems like
something i could appreciate

now i've finally gotten around to actually using it a bit
and it seems to augment quite well; hits a lot of the
muscles i don't with all that walking and the lazy yoga. the
things people FREE away

less enamored with it now. it really is quite a focused
thing, for how fucking heavy it is. it is too horribly
boring to be a proper replacement for walking, going
outside, whatever. but it does hit my knees, or my
triceps, if i use it in certain ways. sad to say, fuck this
for when it's raining. it's a shit replacement for actually
being outside. but, if i am also outside, it will make my
triceps and knees less shit; not bad.
