kind of surreal conversation with mum. she texts me day or
two ago, saying call this weekend, i need to talk about
updating my will and stuff. obviously, like, shit, is she
ok? but then also a lot of: jeez, how should that be
handled? and a lot of procrastination -- or, well, no,
stewing. i actually was chewing on it as best i can.

thankfully, she is fine. but it's funny, we actually both
came up with a lot of questions/answers. my mom nervously
starts to inform me she's going to designate my sister the
executor of her estate...

and i cut her off with the conclusion i came to, i dunno,
saturday sometime: "because she'd do a better job. she's
more like dad." it's true i am very good with details, but i
have this oafish attitude of haste; crashing through
barriers. my father was meticulous and patient. my sister is
the same way. i am more like my mom.

she laughs and replies that that's actually about what she's
put in the will

after that it doesn't feel tense and weird anymore, but
still emotional

anyways... if i get hit by a bus, what happens to riced out
everything? i've thought about this before; even to the
point of "should i implement some sort of time grenade,"
like, if i haven't poked it for a 45 days, dump the lot on
the internet because i might well be hit by a bus.

but, really, it gets into some strange questions: if phobs
gets hit by a bus, who "owns" xltronic, and what are they
entitled to do with it?

even if you think ahead, are there laws for ownership of an
internet community after the admin is hit by a bus?

it's a train of thot that feels like it should be strange.
heck, it was strange ten or fifteen years ago, when i
first asked myself such questions... but now, no, this is
actively relevant, and i strongly anticipate some maddening
network of legal cases about who can own a forum, community,
the content all the people have posted, etc. after someone
is hit by a bus

myself, i carefully avoid being hit by a bus.

she also said "i haven't updated my emergency contacts since
dad died" and i was like "yeah i know what you mean"

it was quite a few years ago. i'm embarrassed to say i'm not
sure which year. my brain was not functioning properly at
that stage in time

my mother and i have had similar talks within the past
years.
we both dont have a clue. her age and health but also the
passing of her parents over the last decade probably set
things in motion, but its staggering, cause we dont want to
think about it and there is no clear path as the inheritment
of her flat will work. her partner likely couldnt afford
living in the already owned flat, due to his low rent
because of the taxes and insurances he needed to pay then,
which is ridiculous cause its not rockefeller mansion and
its already owned. so if he inherited it by will (they are
not married) without a supporting partner he would have to
get support by the state to get by. but, since he has
property, he couldnt get support. he would be forced to sell
it, move and spend the liquified money on rent elsewhere
until its gone. lets say there is 100.000€ from the sale.
it would be all gone within a decade, while he was just
200-300€ per month short of staying in the owned flat.
