isn't that the question that would sink the site into a
black hole?

well i sold some CDs to classmates of an album a friend and
i had made, called "bridge over toxic waters" featuring
songs about one of the history teachers or and such

i do remember looking into CD distribution in the early 00s,
cdbaby, soundscan, that sort of crap. then you have to get
the art precisely right, on the disc, the jewel case. sort
out a bulk shipping solution

then, vinyl. i would be a nervous wreck. you can always burn
a CD and listen to it in the living room, but how would i
know i wouldn't spend $$$ getting some pressed and it winds
up sounding like shit? there's, um, what is it, acetate
discs? so a way to do a preview, but it still doesn't seem
cheap. mastering for vinyl, wouldn't surprise me if there
are books. people talk all these tales about how this
cutting engineer guy is the best and you know it's him
because of how he signs the groove and, yeah. i'd have to
have a few hundred people demanding vinyl out of me before
i'd be willing to throw myself into that. it would be hell.
i'd do a good job in the end, but it would be hell

well i was asking because i've been on messageboards that do
monthly music contests and always kinda thought this board
would have one, but maybe there's not as many musicians or
people here interested, which is why i don't see anything
like that. some sort of concept or theme every month that
everyone here who makes music participates in and submits
their material by end of the month. would people here be
interested in that?

Is this the long awaited next XLT Vibes? Why not, the world
has ended, might as well do one last futile gesture, I'm up
for it.

i am always interested in that sort of thing, but bad at
actually getting to it. i downloaded umbromaniii's sample
pack and then it's july, i spent almost two days and squssy,
and i am very satisfied with it, but mohamed thinks it needs
90s pads. it's frustrating, if i had two weeks i could do
much more, get on a roll with it, but no, even when i have a
proper block of two or three days i feel like i'm only just
getting started. which is why i sometimes post really sloppy
live multitrack bits, like, fuck it, let's just do
something, who cares

but, that being said, i would be interested

An XLT Vibes needs a theme. I recommend something as far
removed from 2020 as possible. Like, silent film
soundtracks.

electro porn trax

okay yeah i thought i vaguely remembered there being
something like that, but forgot it was the xltronic vibes
threads.

i was thinking not about necessarily focusing on music
itself, but the approach i.e. everyone downloads same
samples or gets same drum pattern, you're only allowed to
make a pattern that's 4 bars long...but can have as many
tracks as you want and mute/unmute them, make something
that's 88 seconds long, no effects can be used, nothing more
than 4 channels for drums/bass/rhythm/lead allowed, etc.
some sort of theme, technique, or parameter chosen every
month to base a work of music/sound/noise around.

still have a hoarded bunch of tracks i was good with.
they´re all implemented in 3 video games. two of them
practically finished one is an endless work in progress. i
stay away from the pc as much as possible though. cant get
rid of that tendovaginities for more than a year now since i
started as a postie. then moved in with my loved one did all
the moving, home improvement, garden work (lots of trees to
dig out, building raised beds etc..) kept working another
job its just recently gotten better :)

one day i shall return to music making. thought i finally
was getting somewhere .-)

the remix idea with limits sounds utter fun.
i think it would really help to focus on just that.
lets give it a go soon :)

Umbromaniii makes good music, I do genuinely like what he
does. Epicmegatrax posts good stuff too on soundcloud which
I like. Stian/Staz/EOD isn't here very often now but he
obviously has had stuff on vinyl (I even have some of it)
and is a great artist. Vlari does great work but, again,
very rarely if ever here. I genuinely like Mo's music too,
he really has "something".

I was going to do something with Russell Dust but then he
conveniently/ selfishly had a heart attack and it all went
out the window.

staz´s stuff is great. he put out EOD #4 today on bandcamp.

Fxxxxx aka indeksical is underrated/humble, doesn't really
self promote, and makes weird music in a good way.
Recommended!
