anyone else use this badboy program?
it will ID your unknown MP3s and tag them up, with something
like Shazam ID
i spent me downtime in the last month going through my whole
MP3 library and now I have a big folder of 700 records that
it can't identify at all, it's pretty interesting

im gonna keep the list of those records in case i ever want
to make mixes that no one can ID via Shazam, but i'm not
sure if it is exactly the same as shazam

ok, yeah, this is nice. it was in the linux repo so i had it
fired up in less than a minute. i fed it some old italo
disco track to scan, and not only did it nail it, it pulled
up some compilation album with other interesting tracks on
it

i have to admit i fed about 400 through it before i realised
it may not be entirely accurate, so i went and checked and
it seemed very acceptable...

WARNING though: check the right hand pane (expand the tree
thingies and check) properly before you do the 'Save'
thing... (assuming youve set up the save path n all
that),... yeah, be careful with it... some things it will
get weirdly wrong - eg. Orbital 'brown' and 'yellow' albums
it tried to put into some 3CD collection, stuff like that

also some 'various artists' type collections it doesn't get
and splits up into multiple other 'various artists' type
collections, or possible the original records the trax were
from

well brown is almost yellow, right?

of note is that i've only been messing with this for five
minutes. i'm just happy to have a shazam-like thing for mp3s
on my desktop and i hadn't really even thought about using
it for tagging yet

it is REALLY nicely threaded too, u can go on modifying and
saving things as it scans and it doesn't blink

I love those first two Orbital LPs, didn't know they were
into toilet humour, number 1 and 2 lol

picard.... the borg connection, i guess? that works. ballsy
to name it picard, though. stepping on the toes of the
copyright gods

ha
i was terribly on the fence about that, it was a stupid
track, but once i had the idea, i just exploded with good
ideas of things to sample for it and i couldn't help myself
hi stokesy.
