heh

it's a terrible mess of an album but i love it with all its
silly bass wank. his incomprehensible geek rap is funny too.
and the jazzy drumming is nice

i actually haven't given ultravisitor a proper listen in,
like, years. i tried listening to 50 cycles again, and i
still find it rather incoherent. in some interview, he said
he spent weeks on that song. i guess sometimes one leaves
something in the oven too long

just a souvenir was amazing, blew me away at the time, i do
feel i can hear pre-echoes of that on ultravisitor, but at
the time he was simply overdoing it on the drugs. or
something

district line ii is properly good dnb, ultravisitor and
tetra-sync do prog-drill better than anyone else has ever
done it, iambic 9 poetry is a lovely drum workout. the only
track i skip is steinvord, it's aggy but boring with it
somehow

the other tracks all meld into mush, i couldn't tell you
their names. they just remind me of trying to strip woodchip
wallpaper with my missus at our flatshare when i was 17, it
was either that or the distillers on the stereo all day

also in an interview he said he made the album in sony
vegas, still not sure if he's taking the piss or not but i
lean towards that being a real thing

ony Creative Software was created in a 2003 deal with
Madison media company Sonic Foundry in which it acquired its
desktop product line, hired roughly 60% of employees, paid
$18 million in cash, and took on certain liabilities and
obligations." The link to Sonic Foundry even redirects to
the Sony Creative Software page. Here's the quote from
Jenkinson himself: "The track '50 Cycles' on Ultravisitor is
a monster that took me a month to make. I used the Vegas
software, made by Sonic Foundry at the time, to assemble
literally thousands of edited pieces of audio, and it became
something of monstrous complexity. I wanted cutting?edge
digital signal processing and I wanted the most awkward,
difficult, angular sounds."

yeah 50 cycles is probably the worst thing he's ever made,
it's no wonder. district line ii sounds selfparodic.
the whole album in general is overlaboured in a kind of, i
don't know, immature way. beautiful bits of songs lost
inside a cloud of garbage. he should rerecord tetra-sync
something truly great can be rescued out of it.

i like iambic 9 and circlewave.

i can't take 50 cycles seriously whatever his process, the
whole album is Serious Face Music, a glorious failure

I like ultravisitor. I like most of his stuff. Didn’t get
ufabulum much and have been less into his recent stuff, but
the new one seems pretty good.

Lovely to see Juliette here ;)
