love this moment so much, as i've been making noises from
the album and samuri whoosh motions by myself for the last
week and a half

phat planet cuts so deep it's hard to x-plane

here is some stuff i wrote over a decade ago that
really describes my ground zero attitude towards electronic
music fings.

and i'm getting into rhythm 'n' stealth last couple weeks.
i've written here also, how i saw hackers (1995) as part of
a childhood classmate's birfday celebration when i was ten,
in fifth grade, and it changed my life, because i'd never
heard prodigy, orbital, or leftfield, or anything like that
ever before in my life. the closest thing i'd had was seeing
"odyssey of the mind" CGI vids

so last few weeks i'm listening to rhythm and stealth, and
there's a distinct thot: this album has existed for almost
twenty years and i've missed it, i could have been listening
to this for 2/3 of my life and i've screwed up

pretty much, i had the right idea with my "loop sculpting"
concept, but there's a whole level being played out with
rhythm that i didn't really see at the time, even though i
felt it. sort of like, creating patterns with negative
space... if that makes sense.....

other one that really got me was, literally, just this
morning, i'd been wondering "how the heck did they get that
meaty sound in the bassline for inspection?" that, like, i
literally get their noises stuck in my hed. during the
twitter event, barnes was tweeting about how Song of Life
involved "a 303 sampled at half speed" and i thot: yes,
that's probably it.

then a similar "ohhhh" moment when chemical brother talking
about sampling some EMS synth into an emu e64 and blasting
it with gobs of midi controlling the sample start position

and, while we're here, squarepusher triggering an 808 so
rapidly it starts to become a synth, and, ohh, that's where
some of his flangy buzzy drums come from

i really appreciate it when these guys talk shop

it's probably just as well i missed the twitter thing,
because i'd have been an utter pest with questions
